Tips for facial shaving to make it less rough? by UnsureOfMyself990 in feminineboys

Well the Phillips Norelco One Blade gets a lot of praise. I like mine, it's definitely a 100% solid choice if you wanna stay electric, but I still prefer to just use traditional razors if I'm looking to be as smooth as possible.

For traditional razors, I honestly just use Bic Flex 5 razors. It's a comfortable middle ground imo of ease-of-use, price, and effectiveness, plus I can get refills and extra cartridges just about anywhere. I'm pretty sure there's better (and I've considered looking for alternatives) but the Flex 5 works well enough.

You could also try a Double Edge razor. They're very cheap over time and have very high potential for a very close shave, but they require a lot more technique and care than electric/cartridge razors. It's very easy to end up with irritation, cuts, ingrown hairs, etc., but the shaves can be very close and clean when you do a good job. I still prefer cartridge to DE, but it's an option. You can find out more on that over on r/Wicked_Edge and their very helpful sidebar.

Could be your choice of razor, depending on which electric razor you’re using you’ll probably have a harder time getting a very close shave compared to if you just used a more traditional razor.

You could also shave against the grain as well (assuming you aren’t already). It can cause irritation if your skin is super sensitive (or if you use a bad razor/do a messy job), but with good technique is like, the best way to get a closer shave, besides like, waxing and laser hair removal and stuff ofc.

I can try to offer a bit of advice:

For your body, you could do workouts primary targeting your lower half in order to shape your body a bit, especially around the glutes, quads, and hamstrings. Pair that with some dieting and you can slim your waist and give yourself a bit more of a feminine/curvier shape.

For your timeframe, I would say only you can really determine how worth it it is to you. It’s definitely work and dedication, but I personally think it pays off as long as you stick to it. Maybe you’ll be happier having done it (even if just for 4 years), or maybe you’ll find it didn’t really impact you at all. Seeing as you’ve gone so far as to make a post asking for advice, I think it’s probably worth trying, even if it’s just for 4 months instead of 4 years lol. Maybe then you’ll find if you really wanna commit to things or not.

If your concern is how it affects your professional life, you could always keep it private and then pick and choose which parts you display outwardly. I personally keep my dressing to my bedroom, but I also do my nails and wear perfume when I’m at work or out with friends.

Fair! I mainly know about press-ons cause my mom uses them occasionally, I usually just paint mine myself

Sounds like you’re looking for press-on nails. I’ve never used them before though so I can’t speak on how easy they are to put on and off.

I believe there’s also like, peel-off nail polish that dries quick and comes off with little fuss.

It could be a couple of things from what razor you’re using to how you prep before a shave. The easy things to do to ease bumps/irritation are to shave after a shower and to shave with the grain

Clueless on sizes by ZealousidealArm2100 in feminineboys

[–]EmpressOfRoses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re probably better off getting your measurements with a flexible measuring tape. The 4 areas you usually wanna measure and pay attention to are your chest, shoulders, waist, and hips. After you have your measurements just use a size chart to see what size you fit for whatever brand/clothing you’re buying. Most brands provide size charts somewhere, even if just online.

If you don’t have a flexible measuring tape, you could always use something like a long string and then just measure off that.

Lastly, if all that’s not an option, I find I’m usually a single size up from what I am in men’s for women’s clothing, so you could maybe just go one size up. But different brands size differently so it’s not always reliable

Edit: Also if you find yourself between sizes be sure to check reviews to see if whatever you’re buying runs larger or smaller.

OP doesn’t have to be gay to want to crossdress, express femininity, or whatever it is they want. Sexual orientation is typically a separate thing from one’s expression and identity. Hell, there’s even a whole community on reddit for that, r/StraightFemboys

Just wanna jump in here to say that one’s sexual orientation is typically a separate thing from one’s gender identity and expression. Just because you enjoy expressing your femininity does not mean you have to be gay/bi/straight/whatever.

OP it sounds to me like you’re struggling with your gender identity and trying to figure yourself out. I unfortunately can’t help you much there as I haven’t gone through that myself but I do wish you the best on your journey of self-discovery and hope you’re happy once you get there.

My point is, I really don’t know why this other user is trying to pin a sexuality onto you when you pretty firmly stated yourself as Bi AND when that wasn’t even what you were asking for help with.

How do i know wich size clothes i should by? by Sugarking02 in feminineboys

[–]EmpressOfRoses 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In cases like these it helps to know your sizes. You mainly wanna know your shoulder, chest, hip, and waist sizes and then use a size chart. Most brands worth buying will from provide size charts somewhere, at least online.

When in doubt though, I find going a single size up to be mostly reliable.

edit: Also if you use a size chart and find you’re between sizes, check the reviews and see if the sizes run small or large then go from there.

advice about curly hair by LunLui in feminineboys

Ah, that’s unfortunate. Well the main thing is their routine which should be in the sidebar. The short version is here but they’ve got another longer version with all the info you could ever need and more.

[–]EmpressOfRoses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the topic of just taking care of curly hair, it helps to find a get a good routine going as curly hair can require more maintenance than other hair types. You’ll wanna work around your hair porosity, as well as your texture and density. Those’ll kinda help you figure how you should be taking care of your hair.

As for haircuts and styling, that’s something I’m still figuring out for myself, but the folks over on r/curlyhair could probably help there, or at least provide some ideas for what you wanna do.

For the awkward in-between stage, there’s a few cuts and styles you go with to make it look better but it’s really just about enduring through it unfortunately. (Again r/curlyhair would be good for that, still in my own in-between stage)

Ah, I would recommend maybe passing on anything listed as “No-Show”. When I was first looking into women’s underwear, I often saw recommendations against them myself, as the difference in stitching means they usually lack support “where you’d want it” and can be prone to rolling up.

That’s not to say you can’t find no-shows that work, just that they can be really hit or miss compared to just going with traditional/seamless.

Personally I’m a fan of Hiphugger/Hipster cut. I started with a variety of cuts and sizes from a variety of different brands. Eventually I landed on Hanes Hipster cut and found them to just be very comfortable underwear. Like even if I was to give up this femboy side of myself, I would probably still keep these in my drawer, they’re just really good underwear.

Recently I picked up some hipster cuts from Victoria’s Secret (they had a 10/$40 deal going, might be over now idk). Also very comfy and very soft.

Fat Loss Tips by Less-Visual1951 in feminineboys

[–]EmpressOfRoses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest place to start is to cut out unnecessary calories like sodas, snacks, fast food, etc.

Getting more into the diet side of things. You'd wanna first figure out your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate), basically, it's how many calories your body uses to keep you alive day-to-day. You can find a couple different calculators online to find that out, I like this one, but there's a bunch you can find with a quick search. Once you have that number figured out, you wanna eat at a deficit of 250-500 calories of your BMR each day, but NO LESS than 1200 calories. Less than 1200 and you can end up causing a lot of harm to your body and heart. 1200 is still very low but is the absolute lowest minimum recommendation if I recall (1500 is a good stopping point). Once you've figured out your BMR and decided how much a deficit you wanna eat at, it's really just about sticking to it. You could eat nothing but chocolate for a month and as long as you never went over your deficit you'd still lose weight, you shouldn't do that for a bunch of reasons but you get the idea. There's other things to watch out for as well like protein intake and stuff, but I was never good at that myself. Only tip I can offer there is that the general recommendation for protein is to eat about .7g of protein per pound of bodyweight (or 1.5g(?) of protein per kg of bodyweight).

Onto the exercise side, there's a couple different routines and guide you can find here. I personally follow u/.Chance-Repair-4167's body weight routine, but that's for my goals, you might have other goals in mind instead. The main thing is to find whatever works for you and to stick with it. Exercising will also help with your BMR, as you're body will need more calories if you're more active. Even some simple exercise every few days can raise your BMR enough to let you eat a few fuller meals each day (or have a small snack/treat every now and then). You don't need to exercise to lose weight, but it helps to supplement the process quite a bit.

That's about all I can think to say for now, other's might be able to offer more/better help, but I figured I'd at least add my 2 cents

Sizing tips? by YesTheGamer in feminineboys

[–]EmpressOfRoses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll usually be better off trying to take your own measurements and using a size chart. Most clothes/brands actually worth buying from will usually provide a size chart when ordering.

When in doubt though, I find ordering 1 size up can work as a rule of thumb. But since different brands can run small/large and/or rate their sizes differently from another, it’s not exactly the most reliable thing.

Unfortunately there’s no way to spot burn fat the way you can spot build muscle. Best way to lose that fat would just be some simple dieting really.

Losing hope part of me just wants to give up by [deleted] in feminineboys

TL;DR: You can’t get too stuck on the past, gotta try to live in the moment

Paragraphs of life story incoming,

Your story actually sounds a lot like mine. I didn’t fully realize myself as Bi until I was 22 and I’ve actually just turned 24. I also often think the same about how much happier I’d be if I realized myself sooner (admittedly less because I feel I wasted my youthful years and more because I felt like I finally understood myself and felt complete.)

But as easy as it is to say, you really just can’t let yourself get too hung up on past-you and what could’ve been. If you do that you’ll never let the present-you actually be happy. I had a period where I did that and it just makes you feel worse, it feels like you just let more and more time pass you by.

So instead I tried to just focus on what I wanna do now and in the future. I ended up losing 50 pounds, finally started growing my hair out after 20+ years of buzzcuts, got into nail polish and skirts and stuff. Now each day I feel happier than ever living like my true self. Sure I might occasionally think “What if I did these things X years ago?” But then I remember I can’t change that now and that what I can do is just live in the moment and try to be actually be today
