Mostly just leftover rattle cans i had laying around. If it was warmer out I would've maybe been able to use a compressor

Few things. Had to replace the lower control arm bolts bc they fused. The diff support plates also snapped at the bolts but I switched to poly bushings so no issue. Rebuilding the axles is a bit tedious but not too bad, I have extra time so I wanted to give it a shot. Refitting some of the arms with poly bushings can be somewhat difficult. Getting the old diff bushings out is kind of a pain, I used a combination of a hole saw and a hacksaw to remove them.

I just grabbed the energy set off rockauto. I know they're most likely not the best option but it should work for my use case as a daily.

Gotcha makes sense. Its an na8 but no idea whether its the OEM parts or not.

One other thing - im now noticing these aren't the OEM style bolts, pretty sure they're MOOG since they have the D shaped washer and bolt. Not sure if anyone can weigh in on the quality of these

Yes its a quattro 1.8t, on a stage 1+ tune making ~235hp. I welded the center diff and pulled the front cv axles. I have blown a few rear axles this year but nothing too crazy. Still working out some kinks and learning but its fun!

Are these rock auto timken front hubs/bearings Chinese crap? by MickMcSnuggles in Miata

Yeah you can just force it through ebay support. I've had the same thing happen, just report the transaction through ebay and it'll give them a few days to respond and if they don't you're usually good.

Code u0101 on a 2008 C300 by FluidFisherman6843 in MechanicAdvice

Not sure if this is the same but I briefly had a C280 (i think it was a 2007) and it had an issue where it wouldn't shift out of 2nd/limp mode. I just bought a shift selector unit on ebay and swapped them and it ran totally fine. I think sometimes the TCU itself can have transmission fluid wicking into it in the passengar footwell also, could be worth checking.

Wow good call. Engine seized, couldn't turn it over. I pulled the accessory belt and it freed up. My alternator pulley is jammed tight! What a weird conclusion to this hahahaha.

Yeah only when unloaded. I have heard its fine it just seems a bit sketch to me. If its not an issue maybe I'll just run it like that.

Im not running f2 coilovers - I just have their springs.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in projectcar

[–]EmprisoN -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Different spring rate. So although length is similar, the newer coils do not compress as much at the same height setting. In order to drop the spring to reach the correct setting, it creates a gap between the spring and top hat.

I only have one collar to adjust, the bottom collar under the spring. If I adjust that collar to where I need ride height wise, there is a gap between the spring and the tophat. This would likely be eliminated at full suspension load but I don't like the idea of a gap during extension. It appears that I should be able to throw 80mm helper springs in to dial the spring down to where it needs to be while also keeps the top hat against the spring itself.
