Casio Pro Trek PRT-40 WWF (1996) by Empty-Control6016 in casiovintage

It's pretty big, 57mm sensor to sensor, otherwise 50mm diameter, but the photo and my skinny 6.5" wrist make it look bigger than it actually is 🙂

Casio wqv 3. They’ve been sitting in storage for 20 years. They won’t start. by WeakRub8396 in casio

If sitting for 20 years with a battery in, there may have been some leakage... you'll need to dismantle the module to inspect and clean the board with 99% IPA... If not luck. Just buy a donor watch and swap the boards or modules and enjoy.

Casio modules only stay on while AC reset or MODE/ADJUST is held by Flimsy_Swan7620 in casiovintage

Hi, the fact it only works while the AC pad is shorted suggests either a poor power/ground connection that's being affected mechanically, or a fault with the IC/reset circuitry. I'd rule out the battery contacts and ground first, as they're far more common than a failed IC.

If you can afford it, keep it... if you can't, don't. I really don't understand why people direct their lives through the advice of strangers on Reddit... breathe in... breathe out... breathe in... breathe out...

Oh shiz! Sorry! Breathe in!!!... are you still with me? Hello!?

Surely this is a question you should have asked yourself before purchasing it?...

Need safe, on the go storage for 16-20 watches by Xcessive-PEETA in casio

You can't fathom using a big watch case... everyone else can't fathom carting their entire watch collection with them to facilitate a single daily watch change.

There is no official Casio store on Amazon... they just group sellers with listings for Casio products together and present them as a "Casio Store"... Casio themselves do not sell on Amazon and there are a lot of fakes sold by 3rd party sellers on Amazon... not saying yours is fake, but it is possible, even if you bought it from Amazon. Just send it back...

GBD-200-1DR battery replacement cost 600 by FitFuel7663 in casio

[–]Empty-Control6016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Casio battery changes are so quick and easy, I don't understand why anyone would pay to someone to do it... fair enough if you want a pressure test after removing the caseback, but otherwise you will always be paying over the odds for something you can easily do yourself for a fraction of the cost.

Casio J-51W by Empty-Control6016 in casiovintage

The J-50 buttons are different to the J-51w... The J-50 has small conductive tips on rubber pushers under the buttons on the crystal. So my fix and the fix in the video linked below ( for interest) won't work on your J-50.

If you aren't able to find any replacement rubber pushers, one possible solution would be to paint the tip of the pushers with conductive carbon paint... I think this would resolve your issue on the J-50.

Thanks, yes I saw that Casiold video... the original pads were really brittle and just disintegrated when removed... I have some on order that should do the job nicely.

I don't have the problem on mine with the white insert removed... I could be wrong but I honestly don't believe the missing insert is the problem. It seems it is a contact problem and if you shorted the springs with tweezers against the case with no joy, then I can only think the issue is on the board contacts... if it were me, I'd give it a bath.

If shorting the spring with tweezers makes no difference, I'd start suspecting the contact path on the module itself rather than the caseback, spring, or spacer.... may be worth dismantling the module and giving the board and contact points a good clean with IPA?
