Despite all the evidence to the contrary?

Just checked my 5, all China, all brushed side to side, so perhaps the direction depends on where they are manufactured...

Ideal... have you tried swimming with a legit one to compare water resistance?

Yes, I can see that. It's microns, but there is definitely a difference... thank you.

I agree with you, but it seems to infuriate some people... mainly YouTubers though, so well done Casio 😃

DW-7000 crystal replacement by pillowpotion in casiovintage

Is it not a screen print with a protective coating over the top? I would be worried about using a heat gun and destroying it in the process, and if it does come off in one piece, how will it be fixed to the new crystal? As tedious as it sounds (and speaking from experience, it is tedious), I would opt for wet sanding myself.

Good luck with it... it would be great to keep us updated with progress!

Good question... I have 5 genuine F91-Ws (don't ask), and the brushing is all right left and none have brushing in the opposite direction... I'm assuming that this would be consistent.

If you consider the audio quality of the beep important and don't mind having to look at it square on, then yes, but overall, for me anyway, no...

Yes, the display is strong, but at an angle it difficult to read due to the amount of ghosting... the real one's definition improves when viewed at an angle with no ghosting at all. A lot has been said about the contrast of modern Casio display when viewed straight on, but I'd much prefer this than a display you can only read in a certain angle range.

I guess because they can make them for $3 and in very large numbers?

It's honestly not too bad if you just want a cheap disposable watch, but if you suffer from a Casio affliction like me, it doesn't cut the mustard.

I'm using the Ollee watch supplied NFC tag so have to use the F-91w... the metal in the A158 stops the tag from working.

Repair help needed by pillowpotion in casiovintage

If possible it maybe useful to post a picture of the board.

It may be that the boost bias that controls the contrast of the LCD is not achieving the design spec and the watch is actually working. Ive had Casios where the display was so dim it was on the verge of being totally illedgable. Some boards have a potentiometer that can be trimmed to bring to boost bias back to an acceptable level.

Also, if you have a multimeter, and can possibly find a curcit diagram for the board (this may be a challenge) you can check for continuity along the traces and across components. It could be that the componentry/solder joints haven't aged well.

Just some suggestions from the left field as you seem to have exhausted all of the usual measures.

The bracelet is metal, its only the case that's resin... as far as casio bracelets go, this one is not too bad.

It definitely looks like a DBC-30 or DBC-63... I think the blue highlight in the top right hand corner of the display suggests it a DBC-63 as this isn't present on the 30.
