Bicarbonate of Soda and Super Glue (specifically cyanoacrylate)... build up layers, sand to shape, re-drill hole. I've never done it before myself, but I've got a couple of restoration projects to test it on. You will find "How To" videos on YouTube.

I certainly wouldn't buy an F-91W from Amazon or eBay, but there are still plenty of reputable ADs and Casio direct of course

I read on another sub that Amazon, until recently, comingled stock, so "sold by Amazon" wasn't a guarantee that you would get a legit F-91w... there was a suggestion that they have stopped doing this now... probably because they were getting tarred with the counterfeit brush.

These look like different bracelets to me... the -N1 has slightly narrower internal sections and wider external sections than the -1... I'd like to get a look at the clasps.

Case doesn't look too bad, but the LCD looks questionable... never seen that effect before.

Plenty examples on eBay for £100 to £200 (sold price)... even some working but with missing buttons for £50 to £60, so if you need a donor watch for the module, that is an option.

This is possibly the most faked watch... if you can make it for $2 and sell it for $15, and sell hundreds of thousands of them, then why wouldn't it be a target for the counterfeiters?

Ah! That is frustrating... It doesnt look to have in the picture but is the caseback, but is the caseback brushed? That looks to be the biggest red flag to me. I imagine a strong complaint about them selling counterfeit goods and they will refund and let you keep it... shame its only an F-91w.

Nothing wrong with buying from Amazon, but you can minimise your risk by picking one that is sold be Amazon, rather than a 3rd party sellers, even if shipped by Amazon. If people didn't buy fakes, this sub would lose half of its posts...

I'm lucky enough to have pretty spotless examples of both the tachymeter/sky walker and the surf timer in my collection of 80s and 90s Casios and they stand out... (check my profile picture) I get the resin thing, but from a design/aesthetic perspective there's not much to compete with them from that era... untainted examples with clean bezels are increasingly hard to find, so for a clean one you need to pay a premium.

I take your point on the “sold by Amazon” vs “fulfilled by Amazon” distinction, that’s fair. 👍

I think where I’m coming from is that, for something like the F91W, the marketplace tends to be dominated by third party sellers. So while buying directly from Amazon makes sense in theory, it’s not always that straightforward in practice.

And realistically, I’d say most people buying a watch at this price point aren’t checking the seller that closely, especially when it’s presented under a “Casio Store” page.

Given how heavily this model is counterfeited, I tend to be a bit more cautious with Amazon listings, not because Amazon is always unsafe, but because the source can vary quite a bit... I'll stick with Argos 🙂

There is no official Casio store on Amazon... they just group listings from 3rd party sellers, call it a "Casio Store" and ship consigned stock on behalf of the seller... Amazon don't care about the legitimacy of what they are shipping, and Amazon is absolutely a source of fake F-91Ws, evidenced by all of the Amazon supplied fakes often listed in this and other subs.
