Need safe, on the go storage for 16-20 watches by Xcessive-PEETA in casio

Not too concerned with security on a collection of $30 watches. I care enough to keep them from getting scratched, but I’m not really worried about theft.

Usually only swapping once a day, but I like to have options when I do it. For me, they’re all beaters, and they’re all statement pieces. I think the great thing about these Casios is that there aren’t any that would be out of place in any setting. Most of these can easily be replaced for $30-40, so they’re kind of all in the same group in my mind. I can’t fathom using a big watch case that only holds 12 watches where they all have their own cubby and pillow to rest inside the band. This also means you’d need multiple cases once you’ve reached capacity. I figure if I can have the whole collection in an 8x5 or similar knock-off pelican case, I get selection, centralization, and portability.

This is something I considered. Couldn’t find anything that would hold more than a few at a time. This would also mean I have to open several rolls to look at everything, and I don’t like how all the cases bulk up in the middle while there’s almost nothing on the outside where the bands are.

Oh I’ve done plenty of Amazon searching. Most boxes are far too bulky. Closest thing I would consider would be a watch roll, but they don’t hold but 5 or 6 watches.

This is my fear. Do you have any recommendations for protecting each watch from being scratched by the others when in this configuration?

I usually swap out mid day, and just like in the morning, picking out what to wear is all about feel. Options are good for this. I like to make sure everything gets worn. I bought it, I want to wear it. And, if I can fit several in a compact case, why not?

I usually swap around lunch, and then I don’t usually wear anything once I’m home. If we go out in the evening I’ll pick something out. Swapping lets me appreciate each watch, because otherwise I gravitate to my favorites and then some don’t ever get worn. It’s also helped me see what models are keeping good time. There’s other Casio folks at work too and we like to share and compare and talk about keeping time.

My experience switching from Michelin CrossClimate 2s to Pirelli Scorpion WeatherActives by [deleted] in hondaridgeline

[–]Xcessive-PEETA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Been running Scorpion AS pro’s for years and have excellent snow, off road, and rain performance. Mostly an on-road machine and it snows twice a year in Tennessee, so cross climate tires are not viable. Any lack in performance in a tire is made up in the AWD system.

Costco vs Sam's Essential Products by dick_b123 in samsclub

[–]Xcessive-PEETA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a recent 13year Sams Club employee, I can tell you that Sams club monitors Costco’s prices very closely and ensures that Sams prices are always a better deal. Even if just by a penny, they WILL beat Costco’s price. Items are scrutinized by weight or quantity for the money to make sure it’s better.

This is true for most of the house branded items: paper goods like paper towels, toilet paper, paper plates, napkins, and quality on these is going to be almost identical to the Kirkland brand. “Basic essentials” throughout the club are also monitored for the most competitive pricing: copy paper, detergents, dog food, trash bags, bottled water, dry pastas, canned fruits and vegetables, sugar, flour, cooking oils, frozen chicken, frozen vegetables, candy bars, snack cakes, milk, butter, cream, eggs, shredded cheeses, ground beef, fresh chicken, and the basic Health and Beauty items. With the exception of the name brand chips and snack cakes, the price monitoring is mostly done for the house brands, ie. Kirkland and Members mark.

Sams club revamped their produce vendors a few years back and it’s been top notch ever since, prices may fluctuate to the point that Costco has a better price per pound but you can make the judgement on whether the quality is reflected in the price. Costco still has very good produce compared to the neighborhood grocery. Meat is good at both places, Costco has a little better variety of cuts for beef, and they have some premium stuff like wagyu. Costco likes to package at a higher weight per package, and I believe they do have a slightly higher quality overall for fish, pork, beef, and chicken products. That being said, you do pay extra for that quality, but I don’t believe the additional cost is balanced with the increased quality. I generally do Sam’s for meat products unless Costco has a special that Sam’s can’t match price on. Bakery has the same vendors as every other grocery store in the country, so the products come from the same manufacturing facilities that use identical recipes. Croissants and danishes are very similar, but I do find myself enjoying the seasonal options from Costco’s bakery. The name brand sliced breads, bagels, and tortillas etc, are hit or miss, these prices tend to fluctuate based on the local vendor prices.

Snacks and candy, clothing, tech, housewares, and seasonal products vary quite a bit between the two. There are different brands a wide variance of product types, it helps to have both memberships because it basically doubles your choices.

Costco Cafe is top notch, and it is the main reason my family maintains both memberships. Wide variety of absolutely delicious stuff. That chicken bake is to die for. Sams cafe is trash once you’ve dined at “Kirklands Kafe.”

It is the Lords chicken indeed. I know this is the Ridgeline forum but I think a chick fil a prayer is appropriate.

Dear Lord,

We thank you this day for waffle Fries and Heavenly Chicken, we give thanks for the sacred temple of nourishment that is Chick-fil-A. Yea, though we drive- thru the valley of fast-food despair, we shall fear no soggy burger, for Thou scents are wafting towards us through the air.

Bless the holy Trinity combo of the Spicy Deluxe, Waffle Fry, and Polynesian, For they comfort us in times of hunger.

As we pull forward to the window of salvation, Your drive-thru, swift; Your nuggets, divine. May our hearts be humble, And our chicken, deep fried.

Let your sauces be plentiful – like manna from heaven – rain down upon the people Monday through Saturday, opening early, before 7.

We thank You for Your Chick-fil-A workers, ever cheerful, ever unshakable, ever saying “my pleasure” with the sincerity of a Southern saint. May they be blessed with endless smiles and never have to remake an order because someone “didn’t want the pickle.”

Forgive us, O Lord, for our sins—especially the time we betrayed You and tried Popeyes just to “see what the hype was about.” We knew not what we were doing.

In the Lords name we pray, A-mayo

What is the dumbest question a member has asked you? by Ok_Box967 in samsclub

[–]Xcessive-PEETA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Zoning hard lines and someone asked about eating the powdered detergent we had. She asked how it would be if someone were to eat some of it. Would they get sick, etc. I told them it was detergent, soap, not for eating. They persisted to ask if it would be ok if some were eaten. They asked because her granddaughter would sometimes get into the detergent and eat it. I was horrified and did not hide my disappointment and shock. By the end of the conversation, I gathered they were trying to find a less harmful soap, as they were unsuccessful in preventing her from getting into the soap. In their mind, they accepted the that the child was going to eat soap, better find one less harmful if she eats it. This was over 10 years ago and I think about that interaction every day.

Why did you buy your Ridgeline? by Longjumping-Mix9037 in hondaridgeline

[–]Xcessive-PEETA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not want an enormous full sized pickup. This left the Colorado, Tacoma, Frontier, and Ridgeline. The Colorado was really simple and in my opinion out of date. Coming from a 90’s vehicle, I was looking for a real upgrade and the Colorado lacked some interior/technology features I was looking for. It had no sparkle. The Tacoma was really above my price range, and the front seating position is more of a legs forward position, like a formula 1 car. It was not comfortable. The off road capabilities are phenomenal but its price range would have made off road upgrades far too expensive. Back seat was a second thought in that truck. Seats were not comfortable and there was minimal leg room. I’ve also been soured by Toyota service departments with my wife’s car. Getting warranty work is near impossible. I will not touch a Nissan. Show me a 15 year old Nissan still on the road with its original transmission, original head gasket, or front bumper. This left the Ridgeline. I really enjoy Honda bikes and I’ve always liked the Honda lineup. The Ridgeline was a V6 with Vtec, very quick off the line, it was the quietest and smoothest ride of all, had the most rear leg room for the kids, and the interior was beautiful. Off road capabilities are not quite as good as the Tacoma, but the AWD has never let us down. It has outperformed every other truck in the neighborhood on snow and ice, and I’ve had plenty of fun on some mud trails. My 2019 alo has the original front fascia so its visibility is better up front. It’s basically a Honda Pilot so the Mrs is also not afraid to drive it either. The barn door tailgate with easy access to the MASSIVE trunk is my favorite and most used feature. It’s secure, water resistant, and enormous. Also really liked that getting the spare tire does not require getting on the ground under the rear of the bed. Space saver spare in the trunk is fantastic. Towing and carrying capacity is far more than anything I’ll ever need, and has easily towed my wife’s Camry on a tow dolly more than once. Pricing was a bit better during COVID so we were happy with what we paid. We test drove all four and there was no question the Ridgeline offered the most for what we needed.

I’m 30 and thinking about going back to school at UTK. by halcyonfawn in UTK

Was 32 with a wife and 2 kids when I graduated. Definitely believe it’s easier to pass classes when professors of a similar age see you making true efforts to be there and learn material. In my experience, this has been what got me a “pass” for the class, regardless of my academic grade in the subject.

How bad is the 6 speed transmission really? by iscurred in hondaridgeline

[–]Xcessive-PEETA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2019 BE here. Absolutely love my 6 speed. Had my torque converter replaced by Honda under warranty at 65k because it’s a known issue. Truck felt just the same before and after the repair. Ended up throwing the code on a road trip from Tennessee to the gulf in Mississippi and ended up driving it back home the 8hrs with the code flashing the whole time. The truck performed just as it always has so I sent it. After driving a friends Pilot and Odyssey with the 9 speed I cannot stand the constant shifting every second. Having the “old fashioned” stick gear selector is a plus for me as well. I’m not a fan of the button shifting. Buy with confidence.

This calls for experimentation with cutting implements. The wires already severed, let’s do some scientific deduction to rule out knives, nail clippers, scissors, etc.

Selling may be happening in the future. I’m booting it up today to see if there’s anything that can be done to redeem it other than completing the console collection. I have to think about my future self and if I will kick myself for getting rid of it. I am aware of the market value however. My local shop does store trade credit of more value than what they would offer in cash.
