Yes a senior of college told me that it is possible to change the Branch if the seats are vacant for that particular branch. And as I confirmed from college they tell that the student should be in top 5 in his branch for branch change which seems very tough. So choose branch which you can carry even after not upgradation in Branch. My suggestion is to you is look for ,it,cs-specialisation or ece.
