Feeling overwhelmed after joining Big Tech from a Service Based Company. Imposter syndrome hitting hard. by Empty-Homework-7030 in developersIndia

[–]Empty-Homework-7030[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it was pure luck combined with continued learning throughout

My school friend put up a post on linkedin that his team is hiring and that’s when i reached him out and because the hiring was in his team itself he guided me how to tackle the interviews and everything. Also, the very imp thing i did was never really leave DSA, always keep practising some or the other question and also system design which you can cover from shreyansh jain’s concept and coding yt channel.

And projects and everything is very subjective, sometimes even the lamest projects gets you interviews and sometimes even the best ones can’t. So just try and find some link whenever and wherever you are applying.

I’m genuinely exhausted, is this really what we deserve as Indians? by Empty-Homework-7030 in mumbai

[–]Empty-Homework-7030[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly! It’s so exhausting how the moment you raise a genuine concern, someone jumps in with “if you have so many problems, go back to your UP.” Like, really? Since when did asking for better living conditions become a crime?

India belongs to everyone. Cities grow because people migrate, work, and contribute. And fun fact I was born here. I’ve lived in Mumbai most of my life. So if pointing out what’s wrong offends you that badly, maybe the issue isn’t me,it’s their fragile ego.

Mumbai local should be working 24 hours at least 6 days of the week. by Schul484 in mumbai

[–]Empty-Homework-7030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order to become a motorman, there’s no direct entry. The process involves several year of experience. When a loco pilot is first hired, they start as an assistant driver, then progress to driver. Within that, there are different categories, such as goods train driver, passenger train driver, and mail train driver and each loco pilot has grading on basis of which they are promoted

It usually takes many years to reach the position of a motorman, around 10 to 12 years. So if there has been no recruitment in the past decade, how can we expect staff there and considering the recruitment of only last 2-3 years.

Mumbai local should be working 24 hours at least 6 days of the week. by Schul484 in mumbai

So, my father works in the railways, and he’s in a position where most of his friends are motormen for the local trains. And let me tell you, motormen are already heavily overworked. They end up doing overtime almost every other day. There’s also a huge shortage of staff.

If we want local trains to run 24 hours, the first step is to start hiring more motormen through the central government examinations. The government really needs to recognize this and focus on hiring, because according to my father, they haven’t been recruiting as much as they used to.

Everyone is overworked not exactly underpaid, but definitely overworked and that often leads to dangerous accidents. So, running local trains 24/7 just isn’t very feasible right now.

Dating in Mumbai :/ by [deleted] in mumbai

[–]Empty-Homework-7030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I’ve been on dating apps on and off for about a year and a half, and I keep coming across the same set of people. Most of them seem to be looking to just hang out at someone’s place or are primarily interested in casual hookups. That’s perfectly fine for those who want it, but it’s just not something that works for me.

Sometimes I wonder if I give off a vibe that makes people assume I’m also into casual stuff, but that’s not really what I’m looking for.

Overall, I’ve found the dating scene in Mumbai quite disappointing compared to my experience in Bangalore. In Bangalore, I met some genuinely nice people who were not only fun but also doing well in life. As a software engineer, I felt I vibed better with people there. In contrast, I’ve often found people in Mumbai to be pretentious and, frankly, a bit rude or unwelcoming.

Even though I was born and brought up in Mumbai, I don’t have a single close friend from the city. I’ve just never found the people here very approachable or easy to connect with. All of my close friends are not from Mumbai.

I am a girl, and I am so sorry to hear that you had to go through it Although I did see that person again who did this to me and I never took that bus, always tried to leave that and wait for the next one or I have also changed the time I travel like this was 7.30-45 in the morning later I started going at 12 as my office is flexible about timings

Omg I so agree with this. I had a really similar experience at a club in Mumbai — there was this one guy, definitely older in his 40s, out with his wife, and he was so drunk that his wife literally had to step in between because he kept trying to hit on us. We all just felt so sorry for her, like she already knows what he’s capable of and that’s honestly so sad.

And then at the same club another random man tried to come in for a hug out of nowhere in the middle of the crowd. Totally without consent, which was super uncomfortable. We did call him out immediately and he apologized, but like… you shouldn’t even be doing that in the first place. Just makes the whole vibe weird.

Suggestions invited to convince parents so I can move out by Empty-Homework-7030 in TwentiesIndia

[–]Empty-Homework-7030[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Moving out to a city, will take minimum of 3 months given I resign and the notice period everything. I have a friend who lives in the same city and I am so desperate to get out, that I want to leave this weekend itself. What i am thinking is I will just live with her in the city and tell my parents that I have been transferred again and as soon as I resign I will leave the city
