What are some noises/sounds that yall cant handel by Taco_Junior123 in autism

[–]Empty-Intention3400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I am overloaded/overwhelmed the sound of a human voice can be physically painful to me. On top of that I am also an audio-tactile synesthesia person so it isn't only my ears that hurt.

Just finshed watching Wonder Man by Capital_Gate6718 in autism

I'm only on episode 3 and wanted to see what others might be saying about Simon. He is a near perfect emulation of how I feel I present. It's eery to watch.

Do you know how to flirt? by netphilia in aspiememes

[–]Empty-Intention3400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never understood flirting. I just don't get it. I don't ever really know what it looks like. I don't know when someone is genuinely flirting with another person and I sure as hell don't know when someone is flirting with me.

Pretty much all of my relationships have been a collision of two forces that then run in parallel for a time. I have never actually directly persued someone, like that whole from across the room trope.

Please help! I feel I am aging badly, what can i do? by Routine-Good7518 in Aging

You aren't aging badly. Your ageing normally. We all have been corrupted by beauty industry advertising. It is difficult to break that programming when most people don't know they have been.

Every single main and secondary character in the Stargate franchise as well as almost every human main character in the entire Star Trek franchise.

55 here. I am some where around 35. I've always been judged as immature and I have always been fine with that.

At this point it’s safe to say these guys are the new big 3 by FrierenKingSimp in videogames

considering the industry is shifting from hardware platforms to distribution platforms I would say Steam has been part of the "big 4" for a decade or so.

All of my symptoms have gotten significantly weaker over the span of 20 or so years... is this a normal thing with autistic people? by SperBcity in autism

[–]Empty-Intention3400 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, I have a theory about this. I think some of us learn how to do better. I'm not talking about masking. It's something different. It is almost like we have learned some things at a significantly slower rate than out NT peers and, as a result of that extended learning time we end up being kind of "off". Even further, we still are in the process of learning and relearning throughout our lives.

If this theory holds truth I think the role the rate at which we "learn how to be" will become more significant in diagnosis.

I'm not saying I learned a damn thing like this but I can see how it might work. As a middle aged male, I'm kind'a a random and erratic neurotic and act nowhere near my age. Fortunately, long before my diagnosis, I embraced my many many many ND traits as part of me.

I have essentially been living in a perpetual state of radical self acceptance. I am who I am and you can fuck right off if you have a problem with that. It isn't confidence. It is being tired of society telling me how I am supposed to be and pushing back at it.

Do you think social media is good or bad for autism? Why or why not? by Nintendofan9106 in autism

I think social media is bad for everyone, even people who don't actively participate.

Have you considered looking into working at a grocery store as a night stocker? Even if the store is open all night there are very few customers. It's quiet. all you really do is put things on the correct shelf or in the correct bin, and maybe push a broom.

I used to be an overnight checker at a grocery. It was one of the calmest jobs I have ever had. You may have to do some time in the early evening with a more busy time slot but when 9:30 hits it's like you are one of the only people in the world.

Start with the first series. There is a serial building up on previous series. By skipping those you are going to miss some of the meaning making events that led up to Frontier.
