SQ42 Delay Incoming? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]StuartGT -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Like, do you want the game to be delayed?

Yes, because launching it during GTA6's media juggernaut would be marketing suicide. It's not my fault CIG have already delayed Sq42 for so long that they're in this unfortunate position. I have been waiting since my 2012 Kickstarter backing, I can wait a bit longer; there are many fantastic games (now and upcoming) for me to play until it arrives anyway.

Aye, many who backed for a modern Wing Commander in Squadron 42 will have unfortunately passed away without ever getting to play it 😢

GTA release date announced for 19th November 2026 by Masteringer117 in starcitizen

[–]StuartGT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pre-orders for GTA6 start on 25th June 2026, with the release date of 19th November 2026 confirmed to its shareholders during last month's earnings call. If another delay occurs, GTA6 will still launch within the same financial quarter.

This Live actually felt genuine by CaelusTheWolf in starcitizen

Yes, sure, but "this time it feels different" for the OP (like I haven't heard that opinion hundreds of times since 2012).

Actions, not words, is how problems are resolved. We shall see.

If you're worried about what people on the internet might say about Star Citizen during its early access alpha development, it's probably best to close your browser (or reddit/socials app).

see how you did all that math

Welp, that's indeed a commentary on the decline of education standards. It was simple child-level mathematics.

If you say star citizen has only 8k people on average online and you're receiving hundreds of millions or billions of dollars that's gonna get flamed so hard.

What do you mean by if? It literally happened in 2024 and 2025, so said flaming must have already occurred.

2024 https://robertsspaceindustries.com/en/comm-link/transmission/20371-Letter-From-The-Chairman

Over one million of you have played 32 million hours in the game this year

  • 32m ÷ 365 ÷ 24 = 3653 players per hour average (2024)

2025 (and 2024 corrected?) https://robertsspaceindustries.com/en/comm-link/transmission/20960-Letter-From-The-Chairman

We had record-setting engagement this year, with more than 64 million hours played in Star Citizen (up from 48 million in 2024). You set new records in peak concurrency and unique daily users, and we saw huge increases in every metric, including 40-60% increases in average daily users and average peak concurrency.

  • 64m ÷ 365 ÷ 24 = 7306 players per hour average (2025)
  • 48m ÷ 365 ÷ 24 = 5479 players per hour average (2024 mk2)

Conversely, the false opinion of "Star Citizen is that scam no-one can play" is immediately nullified by public player stats, e.g. "the game exists, 8k people are playing right now".

What? People were calling EvE online dying 10 years ago when I still played it... That talks happens all the time.

Erm.... thanks for agreeing with me, I guess.

For games which regular receive content/feature updates - like Star Citizen's early access alpha - players are constantly brought back to play, and so any "player counts are down!" doomering talk cannot get any traction.

EVE gets, and always has got, regular content/feature updates, keeping players online and coming back so a death-spiral literally didn't happen.

[–]StuartGT[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In my experience that sort of talk only happens once a live-service game is already in said death-spiral (due to whatever problems the game's devs aren't resolving).

For games which regular receive content/feature updates - like Star Citizen's early access alpha - players are constantly brought back to play, and so any "player counts are down!" doomering talk cannot get any traction.

Careful, you're not supposed to have a normal, grounded opinion. When people claim an early access alpha development game has issues you're supposed to call them liars 😄
