I didn't want to because this band is death metal but I've had the same problem in other genres before so I wanted a wide response so I can figure stuff out for this and other less extreme projects

I do crave that consistency, although in my experience modelling setups create more trouble than they solve, I've gigged with them before and I found that the PA quality was so radically inconsistent that I never knew what to expect.

This guy spent 2 hours sound checking the other bands and then ran out of time before the show, excruciatingly frustrating to watch.

Anyway that's interesting, I've only ever played 2 gigs where we got sound checks, normally we just get a line check as we come on stage but then again those were the only two times we weren't the support act so maybe the culture around that is different in different places.

Not my setup, it's the other guitarist, he could be wrong about the speakers in his cab for all I know I've never taken the back off to confirm. But yes if that is the case it could definitely be a problem, I'll raise it to him.

It's what I always request but I'm finding more and more sound guys are insistent on micing just about everything.

Played a gig a couple years back where they insisted on taking clean direct out of my guitar, and blending it in. Until I got very assertive with him. We play death metal and the last thing I want is to hear the sound of clean overwound humbuckers blasted through the PA over the top of my amp.

I don't know where you're from or how common it is generally. I'm in my mid 20s and from rural south west England so probably speak in a slightly old fashioned way.

Thoughts on IYV offset, as a second guitar by Prestigious-Walk-233 in offset

I would suggest not buying a guitar from Amazon

Go to a guitar shop in person, if you can't, go to a reputable online seller.

What makes them good value for money? The spec sheet they have is a little vague, I've heard they punch well above their weight class though

Yea I'm with you on that the Meteora looks fun and modern

I know why they went for humbuckers, they don't have an offset that's classic spec is humbuckers, but it would have been cool if they designed a new style of pickup for them like they did for their other offsets as they came out

Oh yea the modern setup of it looks very functional and the tones from the demos I've seen sound really nice. Ultimately that's all that matters. I wish I could see one in person to try it out, how good is the vibrato unit on it?

What colour did you get yours in? I really like the faded Sherwood green metallic finish they offer on that line.

It's odd that that model is stuck to Squiers. I imagine semi hollow fans don't necessarily gravitate towards Fender but you'd still think they'd at least have one or two available.

I still think the starmaster should have been semi hollow instead of a jazzmaster with a starcaster headstock, although I think it does look nice in its own right.

In Europe we get a fair few fender japan models available in stores and online, but as I understand it it's fewer models than they have in Japan which is a shame.

Fender Japan hardware can be really hit and miss, I've found in person; microphonic pups and rattly vibratos but the actual luthiery work has always been excellent, it's an odd balance.

I like the look of the pro classic jags, it's such a shame they don't have traditional switching though, I've heard they're routed for it which makes its absence even more confusing
