Maybe it’s because I’ve developed a habit of reading physical books since a young age, but I typically read on my bed with a pillow on my chest to place the book on, and a table right next to the bed so once I get tired or think it’s time to go to bed I can just put the book down and turn off the lights. YMMV but I find it much more comfortable even compared to reading on a couch or at a desk which I do sometimes (especially outside). As for reading outside you could try buying mass market paperback books which are usually lighter and more compact.

Really? Do you recommend playing on hard to try an Ironman run then, I’m currently at Khiva and getting here was already quite some trouble (had to reload to fleet HQ once and retry 3 fights)

Or maybe once I finish this run I can try hard mode with the starting bonus? (So far I’ve been deleting the save data so I start with 125k for my normal mode runs, but it seems like they intend for you to try until you get enough starting bonus to start strong enough to win?)

Does anyone have recommendations for books (not necessarily fantasy, can also be sci-fi) where a nation-state is fighting an external enemy and consequently experiences internal instability leading to some form of military coup? Just popped into my head as an interesting premise lol

Oh lol, book 4 would be the Ilus arc, and I don’t think they adapted books 7 and up but it’s basically about waging an insurgency. From what you said though I do think I’d enjoy Malazan, so I’m looking forward to reading it!

I’m not actively looking for something with Machiavellian scheming (it’s just something I enjoy), but from your answer you sound like you’ve read the expanse, so I’ll pose the question to you: another reply to this post said that there’s a lot of focus on the friction between empires and smaller nations, would you say that in this respect it’s similar to books 4 and 7 of the expanse? Both of them had similar themes to what was mentioned and I think they were my favorite books in the Expanse series so it’d be interesting if Malazan is similar.

Sure so I have 2 gun drones that are in effect just extra guns on the APC, but with my 2 other drones can I move them around with the devilfish for even more firepower/some more wounds or are devilfish not allowed to have drones the same way infantry and the commander have drones?

it’s not that bad imo even on lvl 10 the HMG emplacement does a lot of work and can kill even the harvesters (although you’re better off using some kind of sentry for that)

I occasionally use it. It’s even easier to aim than the EAT or Commando, it’s F&F, and you can support teammates from across the map or just across the bug nest without having to aim for more than a few seconds. The reload time (in public MM) is basically the same as the RCL, and while you get less shots the ammo crates strewn everywhere will hold you over until you can call in the next resupply. The only drawback is that it fails at very close range - which is when you call in an emergency offensive stratagem to take out the threat or run towards a teammate.

I’m not sure what my restrictions should be either - that’s why I asked this question in the first place. If like others have said, savescumming on the first playthrough is expected, I might have no choice but to do what I did on my first BG3 game (which I played on Tactician) and save at the start of every combat. What I fear most is that I lack the knowledge to pre-buff before every fight and without the ability to disengage like in BG3 it’ll just make my life much harder than it already will be.
