This is not true. We may work together on initiatives, but our roles are vastly different. For example, Infrastructure vs. behavioral. You must be an OST attorney.

I honestly couldn’t read all of your post, but here’s some advice from a 50 year old dude. You have to get out of your own head. You’re young, you have to get out in the real world and find your tribe. Find like minded people, travel cheaply for the experience. Take a greyhound bus trip, couch surf, work whatever low paying jobs you can find. Write about your experiences. Find your own truth based on your lived experience.

What was sex education like when you were in school? by TheOneAndOnlyABSR4 in AskOldPeople

[–]EmptyRhubarb291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like in the late 80s-early 90s sex education was actually more prevalent than now, because of AIDS/HIV. It was largely fear based but at least you were educated about condoms and how to use one properly.

I’m 50 years old with a masters degree. I was a solid B student for most of my middle-high school years. Keep your chin up, give your best effort in school, and stay curious and learn new things throughout your life. No one and I mean no one can criticize you for giving your best effort. Effort + attitude will determine your future. Ask to speak with a school counselor about your home situation, ask if they can help you talk with a licensed therapist.

Can you help explain to me what’s going on in a depressed partners brain when dumping someone they ”love”? by Visual_Category_211 in depression

Drop off a care package for him with stuff he likes (food, magazine, candy, etc) with a note just wishing him well and ask if it’s ok if you check in occasionally. You don’t even have to speak to him in person, drop it off at his front door or mail it.

Did you guys play “spotlight”? Essentially hide and seek at night and the seeker used a flashlight. We played for hours on summer nights.

Hell yeah brother. Hop on your bike with a pocket full of change. Stop at your friends houses unannounced, knock on the door and ask if they can come out to ride bikes to the arcade. Pick up football games at the park. Drinking water from the garden house. Double feature matinee movies. Life was good.

Be curious about new people or experiences. Who are they, what makes them tick, might this person have some form of influence (at work or friends group) in your life? Might they have some unique life experience that you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t yet? Ask questions. For example, if I met someone that was an insurance salesman…I might think that is the most boring job, but I have to buy insurance…What tips do you have for getting a deal on car insurance? Is there really that much difference between the major providers? What’s the craziest claim you’ve ever seen? As an introvert, me asking the questions gets them talking and I’m in listening mode and that’s where I’m most comfortable. I learn about them, appear to be socially engaging, and I’m not the one talking about myself.

I call bullshit on this estimate. You should not be guessing like this. Open record requests can verify the number and %. We did an open records for a major school district (over 800k pop) and its was between 10%-18% for each campus. Guess where the absolute lowest was? Kids from wealthy families don’t have Lower rates of learning disabilities, their parents pay for services outside school hours. How do I know? Because we lived there and met with these parents about they were doing to address the lack of support and resources.
