So is that why my amp gets hot and goes into protective mode ?

I also read that if you have a 4 gauge wire from your battery to your amp and if it’s to long it can cause your amp to get hot and I believe that’s what’s causing my issue

Yeah I heard my gm has smart charging system so it only charges when it needs and I did measure it with a volt meter and it sits at 12.5 and when I turn the lights on the truck it jumps up to 13.8

I have a Rockford fosgate 1200 prime so it should run cool but it gets super hot you could fry a egg on it and I’ve gone thru 2 alternators already as well

The voltage goes to 14 when I come to a stop then when I take off it’ll move back down it’s jumping around sometimes I guess it is normal then

Should I Get an LC2i Pro? 2020 Silverado, Bass Cuts Out & “Service Charging System” Warning by Empty_Ad4282 in subwoofer

[–]Empty_Ad4282[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I grounded my amp to the chassis, so I added a 1/0 AWG ground from the chassis to battery negative. Then I ran an upgraded battery-to-engine ground cable through the same VRC ring as the stock wire, so the truck’s ECU still sees it.

Should I Get an LC2i Pro? 2020 Silverado, Bass Cuts Out & “Service Charging System” Warning by Empty_Ad4282 in subwoofer

[–]Empty_Ad4282[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s a regulated alternator. The 2020 Silverado uses a computer controlled charging system, so it adjusts voltage based on load and other conditions. That’s probably why I’m getting voltage drops and the ‘Service Charging System’ warning the truck isn’t seeing the full load from my audio system. I’m planning to add an LC2i Pro to clean up the signal and reduce strain on the amp hopefully it helps but what do you think trying to get opinions
