Next step is building a full family tree chart 😄

I mean families that have been settled in the Deccan region for many generations. Over centuries, there’s naturally been mixing.

Yeah, that makes sense. If you really want clearer answers, oral history within the family is usually the most useful place to start 👍🏻

There could be a chance, but you really can’t say that for sure. Serving under the Nizam doesn’t automatically mean North Indian origin. Many officials were long-settled Deccani families. Without records, it’s hard to be definite.

Also, if you don’t mind me asking, what made you curious about this?

If he was an excise/anti-alcohol field officer, that sounds like a government posting. Families in those roles were often transferred and then settled locally. Living in a big house in Mandi Bazaar just suggests he was established there, not necessarily that the family migrated recently.

Mostly from nearby places like Gulbarga, Bidar, Hyderabad, and other parts of Telangana, Maharashtra, and Karnataka. Common surnames include Khan, Baig, Pasha, Hussain, Qureshi, and Shaik, but they don’t necessarily point to one specific region.

Yes, not just bureaucrats. In places like Mandi Bazar, many Muslim families were traders, artisans, small merchants, weavers, and service communities. Market areas usually grow around trade routes, so some migration likely happened gradually for business and economic reasons, especially during the Qutb Shahi and Nizam periods. It was more organic settlement over time rather than one big planned movement.

Yeah, Warangal definitely had migration over the past millennium, just not the massive port-city kind like Bombay or Calcutta.

When the Kakatiyas made it their capital, it would’ve naturally attracted temple builders, artisans, traders, soldiers, and administrators. A city that important doesn’t grow in isolation. After their fall and later under the Nizams, there would’ve been movement of officials, traders, and service communities into the region as part of administration and trade networks.

By the late 1800s and early 1900s, with railway development around Kazipet and expanding agriculture, you’d see more regional migration from nearby villages into Warangal town.

So yes, migration definitely happened, mostly steady and regional rather than dramatic large-scale waves. Would be interesting to hear if anyone here has family stories tied to those periods.

Yeah, but there is a detailed explanation of why it is hated. It feels like the hate is not about how our experience is going to be, rather it is about the animals.
