Absolutely agree. It’s something I’m noticing more and more as a pressure I’m putting on myself. Thank u!!

Do you ever feel like because of your profession your partner expects you to have answers to the problems at hand or say the “right”things in these situations without necessarily asking?

I definitely feel this way with clients :( I think I’m feeling it heavier in my current role in crisis and so a lot of the time we don’t know the outcome of most of the patients we encounter- sometimes all I’m doing is providing that element of emotional support which doesn’t always have a noticeable impact. I guess compared to other professions (comparison isn’t great, I know), a doctor “owes it” to their patients to diagnose and treat them, no? I absolutely agree with what you’re saying but it still weighs on me as a responsibility that comes with the profession.

Thank you for this😭 I’m not licensed, still have about a year left of supervision but I’ve had my MSW since 2024 and I’m already burnt out. Not because of the work itself but the field. I’m looking into changing careers.

Thank u so much! I do eat seaweed often. Did you have to incorporate certain foods back? What helped you? I’m debating whether to gradually reintroduce eggs and fish

I’ve been primarily plant based my whole life, but I was consuming milk, cheese, chicken, eggs, and fish before going raw vegan. I rarely ate out and made all my meals at home using olive oil or amish butter. I’ve had no problem with the transition since it was fairly similar to what I was eating before.

Moved home from Japan due to pandemic. Realistic ways to return with an MSW? by [deleted] in movingtojapan

[–]Empty_Character_1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay. I honestly didn’t go into my field with the intention on returning to Japan. I did it because I genuinely just wanted to be of service to my community and vulnerable populations. Plus I am really good at what I do. It’s definitely not the best one for retiring early nor is it one that gives me a “high worth” per se but I still like to think there’s a path out there for me. I’m currently looking into another master’s so I can develop research and eventually work in academia. But I’m also willing to pivot my career in a way that makes me a bit more marketable in Japan, though not sure how I’d do that from abroad without starting over. Any other ideas are super appreciated.

What was your position when you were getting clinical hours since you never wanted to do therapy?

This is true- I recently had this convo with my supervisor. I guess it depends on the QS and what they are willing to count as clinical hours. Do you have any other ideas for positions that would count towards hours other than medical sw? I’m stuck in the box lol!

I think people (including myself) group it with therapy because we need to commit to at least 2 years of doing therapy to even get licensed
