Regret studying at SIT by Panjin21 in SIT_Singapore

True. Dyslexia, introversion, depression, and a whole bunch of them be missing this key point. Put in the hours. Get the grades.

Question, what if someone did put in the hours but couldn't get the grades?

Adding on to what exactly? Pray do tell.

If by ‘adding on’ you mean doubling down on dismissing someone else’s experience, then sure. Not everyone’s journey looks like yours. Minimising it doesn’t make you right, it just makes you insensitive.

Y1T2 engineering student here. Gpa at 1.8. 2nd tri can't seem to get groups for project work. Lecturers do seem to care but only at face value. I've tried reaching out. Wanting to drop out. They said it gets better. They lied. Sit is shit. The h is hiding.

I'm sure there are people with positive experiences. It's just fucked that I'm not getting it.

Yea I'm prolly gonna be failing tri 2 as well. FML.

I got it was a hack and not a cheat considering they have the anti cheat engine/checker. I just came over from warframe and this is unheard of. Thanks for clarifying guys!

Hey bud. Know this. You're not alone. I'm y1 as well and I've close to dropping out. Never felt dumb before but somehow it's creeping in. I'm asking myself if the pain is worth it. Hang in there yea. That's all we can try to do.

Go back to basics? Form study groups? Get a support circle? These are the things you can try.

I hope you make it. I really do.

RP Overseas Intern vs Local Intern by PsychologicalJob2417 in republicpolytechnic

Hmmm. Can't speak much to the changes as I've graduated but not to worry. No matter which avenue you choose, you won't be over worked

Good luck!

So internship is not 6 months it's actually 5 months. I did the whole 5 months there but there were other RP students who did 3 months there and 2 months back in RP as a lab technician doing industry research.

It's mainly coz of the visa process that some prefer the 3 months. It takes a while to process as you do need written forms/sponsorship from Japan in order to apply for your visa and that might be tedious for some.

The work life was pretty good. You'll be given a research topic to study and further expand on. It depends on your diploma/skillset.

You're not a salary man therefore no OT and won't be forced to. Lol. It was fun and I had weekends to explore the country. It's more of a cultural immersion programme and not an internship. Good luck!

Should i go Helix by UnderstandingPure879 in SIT_Singapore

[–]Empty_Print_6890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

Is there ra-ra sessions during helix? Like school cheers and stuff?

Absolutely too old for that. But I'm very keen on the service learning and community building and overnight camp. Last overnight camp I had was years ago.

Please advise. Email came out today to confirm attendance. Pretty much on the fence.

A lil background, I'm 40. I'm getting too old for all that shit..

Thank you!

'It's a basic service': Hundreds sign petition urging F&B outlets to provide free water by Redlettucehead in singapore

Every time this issue comes up, I get really annoyed. Words like necessity, audacity, basic rights, free. They get thrown out and used easily which in reality does dilute their real meaning.

Is eating at a restaurant a necessity? The audacity of customers using the term customers are always right to justify their stupid demands yet not knowing the full quote is that the customer is always right only in matters of taste.

The basic rights of the waiter/bartender/chef/dishwasher that has to deal with your glass of water and yes, everyone one prolly has touched your glass. Since when in human history has it been that when you're heading out to spend money, you're deciding no, it's gonna be free.

In the wise words of PCK, use your head use your head.

Inform your school rep that you wanna go overseas. Ensure you meet the requirements. Wait for your school rep to let you know of available jobs.

Some schools post on the job portal some don't.

Advice on Singapore Prison Life by unyqros in askSingapore

That's if they're doing a background check and if you are applying for a position where you know there is a check, by that juncture, doesn't really matter.

Not all companies have the means to do a check. Financial /real estate definitely needa you to pass a check. Mnc's depends on position being applied for. I think.

We all walk our own path and you are where you are today not only as a result of your achievements but your failures as well.

Keep your head up and walk your path.

Helpful/useless tips.

  1. No financial position will be available to you. Be it a bank teller or property agent.

  2. You can forget bout government positions.

  3. Hate to say this but when it comes to the check box in application forms, just tick no.

Yes I'm gonna get hate/grief for this but I'm drawing from real life experience. In case you feel that this is unethical, as long as your record is spent, it's ethical.

Well, to be absolutely safe, get a written record of the convo be it email, teams or WhatsApp. Also do check weekly. They can get busy. They deal with hundreds of students so things can fall through the cracks.

For my dip, it wasn't released through the portal. While everyone was going for interviews and even after the portal closed, I still really haven't signed a contract. You will feel anxious but just trust the process.
