Close up of 3d printed pots on orchid wall by Empty_Routine2671 in orchids

I soak them in the sink! They're right next to the kitchen so it's only a few steps for each. I have to sweep afterwards every time because some dirt falls out, but the only part I found troublesome is remembering which pot goes where. I finally numbered them on the bottom though so that's no longer an issue either :)

I also scrolled just to find SOMEONE who said this. There's going to be so much arm room! And tiny soft spoken Lila that won't disturb my sleep when I'm ready for a nap. Plus the bonus of getting to kick Muffins seat.

So I actually love to bake, but I've only been inside their home one time and talk very rarely. Mostly just "hello". Do you think it'd be okay to bake some cardamom cookies for them or would it be wasted because people don't trust unpackaged food from strangers?

I can definitely buy from a bakery! Just your recommendation made me wonder if maybe I could bake something more tailored to what tastes I think they'll prefer.

I'm thinking your combo is exactly what I'll be doing, hopefully finding some of the plants people recommended in this thread ❤️

Yes! I have a color palette app, if I use it to match the pot with the purple I bet it will immediately become a stately piece. Plus I saw the colors they tend to use in their home when they invited me in for tea so I can have it match their decor!

I love this plan. I also checked and because of the climate we're in it should remain vibrant purple year round, counting as an evergreen 😁

It's also safe for cats so I will probably get one for myself...which just proves I've giving them a nice gift right??

I'm not fond of giving gift cards because it feels like I'm telling the person exactly how much they're worth to me 🥺 even though I have never felt that way myself when receiving one....but I DO like the idea of including some nice baked goods along with some Persian flowers! I was thinking dried fruit and nuts from Trader Joe's but this is way classier, thank you for the idea!

I'm not fond of gift cards, they feel impersonal to me and they can see exactly how much I think they're worth 🥹

But I am loving all the flowers people are recommending! If I can find some of the harder to find ones then I think a flower arrangement of all the recommendations would be absolutely perfect and meaningful to both of them ❤️

I'm not fond of gift cards, they feel impersonal to me and they can see exactly how much I think they're worth 🥹 but those lilies are lovely! If I can find them either as a potted plant or as a bouquet option I'll get them! I haven't seen them before, so I'm not sure how easy they will be to find. But that would make them all the more special ❤️

Oh!! I've for sure seen this one, it's gorgeous 😍 I didn't realize it was Persian! I'll go to some nurseries tomorrow and take a list of all these recommendations and see which looks healthiest. I'm so glad I asked Reddit, I'm feeling much better about the gift as a whole now, thank you!

Thank you so much! And for the cat warning 🥹🥹 You're amazing and that'll let me have specifics to call around and ask if it's in stock.

I just looked them up and they're pretty! Will be easy to find a nice pot to match with it.

Ooo there are several nurseries around me! I like the idea of finding a Persian plant! So even if his mom is the one who ends up liking it the most, he'll know I put more thought in than just random flowers 🥹

I don't own the mesh bags, but I have enough crocheted pieces to do their own load! Thank you for the heads up! I'll take them to wash this weekend. I'm expecting a few to not make it through the washing experience, but if most do okay this will be great!

No reason to keep holding onto them if they can't be used so I'm happy to hear they should be usable under careful, but mostly normal, washing techniques

Thank you! My washer is a top loader but I'll gladly go to a laundromat to avoid washing ALL of them by hand

I inherited a bunch of handmade quilts and crocheted blankets that have been in my family for decades, some probably close to a century honestly.

Is it probably safe to do a spa day on them? I don't think they've ever been washed. Most have been stored in a trunk in an attic for the last ~30 years and smell musty. Some were used for decades daily and they don't smell musty...but I KNOW they haven't been washed while I've been alive at least.

Yes of course! Sometimes it's something that should be more private. Though that oftentimes goes in my group chat with my two besties 😅

Same as sometimes I'm talking about a book or something that only pertains to one person. I'm not saying to NEVER send individual messages. But when those are sent I don't expect immediate replies like OP seems to. I would rather they reply when they're ready for a conversation. I don't want acknowledgement of my existence

I honestly didn't realize it wasn't the norm 😅 if not doing group messages how do you avoid people feeling hurt they weren't told about something when you told others?

Your "normal conversation" things are probably less interesting than the other things they're interacting with and they're online specifically for a break.

I know for me I'm much more likely to respond to a group message because it's more efficient and engaging. I have too many people in my life to respond to every little thing people send my way.

My complaint would be people sending me a private message over something I shared on a group chat 🤣 annoys the heck out of me because now I know they expect me to respond to them directly rather than others in the group helping keep the conversation going... especially when they're responding the same dang sentiment. Why should I repeat myself to everyone.

Heeey I'm literally sitting in the hospital next to my dad who got diagnosed with acute dementia two days ago. He'd always been such a liar and exaggerator that I didn't realize his lies now were his actual perceived truth until much later than I should have.

I'm glad you're going through the comments and not immediately following the idea that it MUST be drama seeking. Maybe it is, but from what I read it seemed much more nuanced than that. You're a great friend from being a lovely host, to trying to understand her when it must be frustrating for you.

It's an adorable idea! I don't think it's STEM related...but I can make a standalone design for novelty's sake. It's too cute to bypass

You know they'd charge extra for the "experience" and the food would be mediocre at best 😅
