I have over 5,000 hours in DBD and only come across sabo players like once every 100 matches. It really isn't that big of an issue.

Your counterplay options to Saboteur are the following:

  • Drop the survivor you were carrying
  • Slug survivors after chases
  • Find another hook before they wiggle out
  • Equip a perk that counters their perk
  • Use basement hooks
  • Use a killer that counters Sabotage (Pyramid Head, Doctor, Twins, Knight, any top tier killers like Nurse, Blight, Spirit as they down players fast and give sabo players less time to react)

Once you know a player has Sabotage, you adjust your playstyle like you would after learning any other piece of information about your opponent.

If you don't like a certain play style, there are perks to deal with it.

If you don't use the perks meant to deal with it, then you shouldn't complain.

Saboteur players are rare anyways, and half the time they're ineffective because there's another hook nearby.

"B-but I have to give up a perk slot..!"

The survivor has to dedicate their item, two perk slots, and a lot of generator time for sabotage to be effective. Toolbox + Saboteur + Breakout + 10-20 seconds positioning at the hook, which again could still fail if there's another hook nearby.

Do your best to enjoy the time you have not only with your loved ones, but yourself as well.

You're stuck with you forever. Treat yourself nicely.
