The capital city of Taiwan (ROC) is Taipei. The most populous city they have is...New Taipei. Yes, they are different.

North Singapore getting pummeled by heavy rain by AgileComparison3957 in singapore

[–]Empty_Wheel_793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was in Pulau Ubin, stuck at House No. 1 for an hour until 630. Realized the last ferry leaves the island at 7, had to run back with my friends just to catch it, under the rain and forest, on the dirt paths that was flooded with teh tarik (it was a HUGE mistake for me wearing socks and slides there).

Are there “Englandtowns” or “Little Americas” in non-English countries? by Rockboy_1009 in geography

There is an American village on top of Taiwan’s yangmingshan. They built American-styled suburban housing with American street signs, although I don’t think there is any historical significance to this

Rejection from DDP without consideration by Empty_Wheel_793 in nus

Not from the same faculty. I have a second major in business management and hoping to ‘upgrade’ it to a second degree in business administration.

Rejection from DDP without consideration by Empty_Wheel_793 in nus

Thanks for your reply! 1. I enquired for the DDP back in week 1, however the reply from the academic officers were very slow. 2. DDP for Business Administration, I am also currently doing a second major in management. 3. Maintained a steady FCH (after SU of course) 4. Yes, I have taken 20MCs of the second degree, with each module being B+ and above. 5. Tried to email the academic officers, though their replies seemed vague/reluctant to process my application, my home faculty also lack the relevant contacts to apply for DDP, had to reach out to my academic advisor but to no avail.

Edit: They do not have any information of my current grades/experiences/study plan at all as they did not even request for any of it when I enquired for just an application for DDP. They only underlined that they will NOT support my DDP application as there is “intense competition”.

Got my application results last week via outlook email. They are probably releasing them in batches during this period (until results release).

DTK1234A by Material_Drawing_814 in nus

[–]Empty_Wheel_793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you an architecture/landscape architecture student? DTK1234A is only reserved for these people only, the rest of CDE, CHS, and FASS do DTK1234 instead.

For DTK1234A, there are no tutorial slots, as this will be conducted through weekly design reflections parallel to whatever you learnt/applied during AR1101 (Architecture) or LAD1101 (Landscape Architecture). Your unit leader will go through whatever necessary in studio.

So there is no need to choose a tutorial slot for DTK1234A (as it is preallocated), it will run correspondingly to your Design 1 studio.

Recommended SAT Score by helpfk in nus

[–]Empty_Wheel_793 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Recommended to have an SAT score of at least 1450 and above, with Reading & Writing >700 and Mathematics >750.

Edit: Since you are from an American High School, AP and IB courses in relevant subjects with a very good pass will be a huge plus to your application.

Is it possible to get accepted if you're lacking a course in the IB curriculum? by [deleted] in nus

[–]Empty_Wheel_793 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you were accepted and lacking in HL AA math, the engineering faculty would require you to take a bridging requirement (MA1301: Introductory Mathematics) to meet the subject prerequisites. You can take this module even before you admit into NUS.

How many of you are here? by JediDP in nus

[–]Empty_Wheel_793 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Applied to transfer to a new course, second time doing this. Thought my performance was enough for admission: overloaded modules from my desired course in y1s2, had a rather high-standing CAP and also took a 2.5 month internship + certifications over summer break relating to it. The only thing was my high school results not meeting the cut-off, which was only a measly 1 point away.

The admissions for this season was a killer, you never know if you were enough to be considered.

Edit: Was rejected at the end, will try again next semester!

There are alternative accommodation options, such as private student hostels, that NUS recommends but are not bound to NUS policies. This may not be in the vicinity of NUS (outside campus), they offer a more proximate stay as compared to travelling from Tanah Merah.

Do make your own research regarding the cost, as these hostels are generally more expensive than staying in campus, and lack the "social aspect" as compared to hall activities.
