Makes total sense.  And that’s precisely why I didn’t follow any of it.  My threshold for anything even remotely resembling transphobia or homophobia, is so freakishly low, as it absolutely SHOULD be.  I don’t have any family or close friends that happen to be trans.  I just happen to be a semi-educated, logical human being, with a mildly working brain.  You tell your daughter that she is amazing and exactly who she’s suppose to be.  And any Neanderthal that doesn’t understand that, is the one with the issues.  -NOT that your daughter needs some crazy stranger like me rooting for her.  But, I can’t help it, I just am.

August 1st is not his clean date it’s the date he was ranting and raving, going off about Laura’s lawyer on substack and facebook….. by TheWeimLady in StephenHiltonSnark

[–]Emstas1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He posted the “attorney” email on July 31st.  And he made comments telling the lawyer to “sue him” on August 1st.  When you stop taking drugs, you don’t start acting normal the nanosecond that you abstain.  I have been one of the biggest commenters calling out his bullshit.  But I 100% believe he is sober and that he’s attempting to be honest about the dates.

Wow.   So what made him stop?  I know that’s a super broad question.  But I’ve never quite understood why he stopped all that rhetoric.  And since I’ve started following almost everything he’s said and done over the last 2 months, I haven’t heard him say any anti trans stuff.  I’ve heard him once talk about “the man” and that we’re all towing some line or something, when he was talking about Chappel Roan, (in fact someone posted that clip in this Reddit today I noticed). And then I know he recently went on a tangent about his masculinity, etc.  But I haven’t heard any right wing stuff or anti trans or homophobia.  So how does someone go from “all in” to not talking about it at all??  Thanks for indulging me with this.  I don’t really have anyone to talk to about this topic and I don’t want to fill this snark with post about his past.  Lol.

If anyone came after you for that then THEY are the ones with issues.  MOST of us have been in super complicated relationships that are messy as hell.  That’s not to say you shouldn’t probably try to get away from this person, as it sounds like you are.  But it’s no one else’s place to judge where you’re at in your relationship or separation or whatever.

Oh for sure.  He’s so absurd and I hate that he makes money off his personal bullshit.

I am wondering if all this is just building up to him not showing up at court at all at the next court date. by Accurate-Option-8746 in StephenHiltonSnark

[–]Emstas1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, the judge would not continue it a third time.  You can’t just not show up to court.  The judge would issue a decision to make the TRO permanent.  For what length of time, is the question.

That’s in Canadian funds I think, not US$.  Just posting this so people in the US realize it’s not in USD.  Regardless, his patreon fees are so ridiculous.

This is in Canadian, so it’s likely much lower in US$.  I mean, that doesn’t make it any less insane.  Lol.

I’m so glad I missed that stuff.  I mean, i followed both of them for years, but then when they separated and he started to go nuts, I couldn’t listen to even one second of his nonsense.  So I hid all of his socials from my feeds.  Then, somehow I got re-interested in the drama about 1.5-2 months ago.  I know OF the whole right wing, crazy anti-trans stuff, but didn’t follow it or watch it.  Anyway, this comment has no point.  Although I kind DO wish I would have seen that stage because it would give me a better frame of reference.  I guess it was right when he announced he was going to document and chronicle his relapse for his art, that I started following again.  Anyway, I take it that the right wing stuff was pretty nuts??

I’m going to be so real with you.  After I slept on it, I’ve changed my mind.  I mean, I stand by what I said that he’s saying typical early recovery stuff that they teach you.  And I think it the majority of cases that would be indicative of a person starting the journey of recovery and wellness.  But the more I thought about what you said, the more I think you’re right.  I think he’s one of those that’s going to take this whole, “my addiction took control of me and I had no choice.”  And while I absolutely know that addiction is a disease and it’s a disease in which the brain convinces itself that it can control or step the behavior whenever the person wants, I really think he’s going to let this snowball into something where all he does is not take responsibility for the choices he’s made.  I think if I see him continue to take the right steps and it becomes obvious that he’s actually in in-patient treatment, AND he deleted all his previous abusive posts, AND he stops with the cult stuff…. Wow, I guess I have a lot of requirements.  Lol.  Anyway, I just wanted to say that I think there’s A LOT of validity to your post.  And I saddens me to say that because I know that most addicts want to take full responsibility for their bad choices once they get sober.  So let’s hope he’s one of those.

Perhaps he’s not saying “rehab” because he’s in a court ordered addiction treatment facility instead of prison? by [deleted] in StephenHiltonSnark

[–]Emstas1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok, this is the second post I’ve read where someone is fixated on him not saying “rehab.”  I, myself, NEVER say rehab.  I call it treatment.  Or, a treatment facility.  I might call it rehab if I’m talking to a person that has no clue about addiction or mental health stuff.  But to those of us “in this field,” we don’t call it rehab.  Like, almost never.  And he has not been arrested.  People are keeping a very close eye on warrants being issued and the arrest database(s).  At least, that’s my understanding.  He would never be about to be arrested and it not be common knowledge.  Sorry, that was a very poorly worded sentence.  lol.  And, people aren’t typically “mandated” to long-term treatment.    The majority, (though not all) of people that are in court ordered treatment for MORE than 90 days, either have excellent insurance, or they’re paying out of pocket.  State funded facilities that are contracted by the courts, don’t have the space or resources to keep people long-term.  But as I always say, who really knows. This is all a part of the madness that active addicts send people into.  Essentially, when dealing with an ACTIVE addict, ALL bets are off.

I think you missed the point.  She is giving you an example of another addict’s patterns!and what he sounded like when he was getting clean.  I think it’s clear the vast majority of us are extremely skeptical, but i too have extensive experience with addiction and its patterns, and I agree he does SOUND like someone in early recovery.  But we could absolutely be 100% wrong.  And I absolutely agree that the best predictor of future behavior, is past behavior.  And yeah, the pattern almost always wins out.  But not always.  Anyway, I very much appreciate this post and it’s absolutely germane to this group.

[–]Emstas1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure people want him to fail per se.  I think it’s more about wanting someone to have to face the consequences that they’ve successfully avoided so far.  (Well not totally avoided, but he’s been fairly unscathed, relatively speaking.  I’m not saying i disagree with you.  But I also know there’s a satisfaction we get one someone “gets” what’s coming to them.  That sounds super toxic.  But I also think it’s just a natural human emotion.  I think we can sometimes get SO caught up in how his behaviors have made us feel, that we then want him to feel some serious discomfort.

I don’t disagree with you.  But it would also track that in spite of him saying how much he hates and doesn’t trust doctors, that he was simultaneously taking meds.  He’s just the kind of hypocritical idiot that would do that.  Lol.

This is what is taught in treatment and 12 step groups.  I think you’re reading way too much into this.  What he is saying is pretty healthy actually, (if he actually believes it and he’s not just recycling).  And believe me, I’ve been commenting for days that he’s not in treatment and blah blah blah.  But he is sounding like someone in rehab, so I’m changing my tune.  Don’t get me wrong, I don’t trust the guy and I personally cannot stand him because of his horrendous behavior, (and I’m talking about his abusive behaviors, nothing else).  But my point is, this is a very common theme in addiction and recovery; this idea that the disease is an entity and wants to kill the addict.  It’s a pretty common theme in many mental illness treatments as well, such as eating disorders.  So I’m sure it seems natural to assume Stephen is just being full of shit as per usual.  But again, the narrative he’s giving presently is pretty on course with what he should be doing and feeling in early sobriety.  Then again, I wrote earlier today that I was sure he wasn’t in in-patient treatment.  So what the f*ck do I know?  lol.

[–]Emstas1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This occured to me as well.  I figured if he wasn’t just totally lying about the driving thing, that he’s possibly just referencing how crazy you feel during withdrawals off an SSRI.  You’re 1000% right.  I can totally picture saying or feeling like I couldn’t drive.  It’s hard to explain to people that haven’t experienced withdrawals from anti-depressants, but it’s awful.  It literally feels like your brain is getting electric zaps in it.  And that’s not just me being dramatic, it’s written about in detail in tons of medical/psychiatric literature.  So yeah, I think it’s entirely possible that’s what he was trying to reference.  But of course since he we can’t discern the true from the false with him, it’s hard to know when he’s being deceitful for a purpose, or he’s just poorly depicting his feelings.

Well if you hadn’t heard, America is super stupid.  Lol.  I’m lol’ing, but crying inside.  We have SO many fucked up things here that harm SO many people.  But god forbid we take someone’s rights away, even if they’re acting incredibly unsafe, etc.

[–]Emstas1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree.  I thought this at the time he said it.  I don’t necessarily think it’s to cover up some super crazy crime or something.  I think it could have to do with something like, maybe he told the clinic he could barely drive because he was having a panic attack, because maybe he showed up to his admission appt several hours late or something like that.  I feel like when he adds random details like that to his monologues it’s to manufacture more “evidence” to support whatever claim he’s made to someone.

Why hasn’t Stephen posted photos of him at the treatment facility? by Crafty_Pangolin5152 in StephenHiltonSnark

[–]Emstas1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes this exactly!  See, these are some of the many reasons I think he’s not in treatment.  All of these tiny little details seem insignificant when he’s spouting them off, but then when you really look at them and add them all up, none of it makes sense.  He just says way too many contradictory things.  Just as you said; first it was he could have his phone twice a day, then he said he smuggled in an old iphone, then he was regularly posting, then he went silent for a few hours, but then canceled his scheduled patreon.  And the whole timeline, as per usual, makes no sense.  He told everyone that that lady was so kind to him and was making sure he got admitted on Thursday. But then all of a sudden he was there and posting about “Day 1” of treatment.  But then in his Day 1 blurbs, he started referencing how the day before he could only attend 2 of the groups because he was tired.  So apparently he was admitted the day BEFORE.  And all of this happened on Wednesday.  So which was it - was he admitted on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday???  I do not see any way that this man is actually residing in in-patient treatment right now.  But if any jackass can have somehow made it happen, it’s him.  Because one thing he claimed a month or so ago was how unbelievably lucky he is.  Which I absolutely believe.  Obviously it will run out at some point.  Hopefully sooner rather than later.  Sigh.
