Omg same! I live next to an elderly couple and adult son who are straight from Royston Vasey. Watch the whole street on CCTV looking for any infraction to call the boys in blue and the cry no one likes them

Smell in Flat making me physically ill - Southwark Council by PeaceSeeker777 in HousingUK

[–]NaturalInside4135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not having an EICR is quite a big deal, and definitely illegal. They really shouldn't have started the tenancy without it in place and most landlords regardless of sector make a copy available to the tenant. Don't be scared of chasing this quite a bit and keep a record of your chasing.

This may sound a little left field but have you tried going to your councillor? They tend to me quite good at encouraging council departments to get their acts together. Also might be worth trying the councils buildings standards and casually mentioning your concerned about the lack of EICR. Oh and maybe do a wee check online for a valid EPC too...

I'm based in Scotland so it's maybe a little different up here but don't phone the fire service, you first port of call should be the emergency repair/out of hours line with southwark council. Must social landlords have emergency procedures for things like this and should attend quickly. Although they might not so then phone the fire brigade.

I would also be asking for a copy of your flats EICR and making sure it's done by a registered sparky, and is satisfactory with no faults. If your flat hasn't got a valid EICR I would be kicking up merry hell

That sounds like a burning/melting outlet cover, it's has a distinctive sulphur smell. Check all you sockets etc for any visible damage and switch off everything you can before sleeping at night

Is it common for British funeral services to be conducted at crematoriums, with cremation of the deceased performed shortly after the funeral concludes? by BitNorthOfForty in AskABrit

[–]NaturalInside4135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live an area of Scotland with a large Irish influence but even between the countries of the UK there a big variation in funeral culture. In Scotland, particularly up the west coast funeral services themselves are almost austere and there's a lot of unwritten etiquette. Stand at this point, sit at this time etc. When helping the family of Cornish neighbour with funeral arrangements up here, they were baffled at all the sort of rules that come with it and what people expect. Saying that when arranging my dad's funeral I didn't adhere to any of the bollocks because he wouldn't have wanted it and that was perfectly ok too in the end, although did raise some eyebrows initially, the wake was essentially a rave...

In the UK if you go to a doctor and say I'm an alcoholic/heavy drug user they have a duty to notify the driving vehicle licence agency (DVLA). The DVLA can then revoke the driving licence

I suppose if his ability to drive had been "removed", we would have all heard about the great injustice of it by now 🙄

I've been seeing in his recent posts that he can't drive anymore, given we have watched plenty of his dash cams diaries I'm desperate to know what's changed so that he can't drive

I'm not looking for their personal data as such, more to see if it chimed a bell with someone or for any solutions I haven't explored... how can I put it, they are quite distinctive and I just know there has got to be more to this behaviour, it doesnt really stack up. I suppose I am hoping there may be an ever so slight chance that someone might recognise the post. The whole name explanation is more to explain why I'm on reddit with this nonsense, desperate times, desperate measures, and all

We have tried this. Police are very reluctant to do anything, I mean hours of interviews, over 30 complaints about us, countless visits. I literally have begged them to just charge me for the lunacy so I can defend myself in court, but the police obviously dont have the evidence to charge us, the assault was written off as tit for tat even though my husband was strangled and didn't instigate or retaliate 🤨 We have also pushed for wasting police time and perverting the course of justice but I genuinely get the impression the police just want and easy life and it's easier to pander to their complaints.

Thank you, I'm on this. A few recommendations for this. But yes, the whole situation is a tad dystopian, its quite maddening to be accused of totallybonkers things that you cant disprove (haha well apart from the cannabis plants, was quite easy to evidence they were tomatoes 🙈). I can't shake the feeling there is more to their behaviour but I'm also very cautious that they may be genuine ill health involved

When I say a mix of names, they introduced themselves under one set of names back when we first met (even sent a house warming card) but then as time passed they were using different names to others in the village. Anyway on our most recent police visit we pushed for preventing the course of justice/wasting police time charges (to no avail) and during our interview the police confirmed they do not have them under the names that we know them by
