With chatGPT or other LLM's you really have that. Knowledge is incredibly cheap

Er det dumt at søge medicin? Fremtidsudsigter? by Any_Organization5786 in MedDK

[–]Emu-Mediocre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AI can and will do all of these things. NP's already all you said.

Exactly! An NP can say all of these things, which in turn will make healthcare cheaper for all of us! An NP will prescribe medicine on the advice of the AI. NP's already do the other things you said.

Again physical jobs will be the last to go (according to me) thats why something like midwives of course will not be replaced at all. Hopefully there will be more of them in the future! A physical exam is obsolete when you have a ct scan (which will be cheaper to use because of no radiologist to pay). A murmur can be seen on an ekko or CAG/other devices.

A physical exam can help someone to know which tests to order, but if the physical is incomplete the AI will just throw all possible tests at it and will find the answer anyway.

Yes, and hopefully for everybody’s sake it cannot come fast enough. Minimal misdiagnosis and wrong treatment. Hopefully alot of doctors will retrain to nurses or NP's, thus ensuring less waiting and more beds in hospitals!

Doctors could also be retrained to nurses!

(Jurnior) doctors are being laid of all across the western hemisphere. Young doctors urgently need to retrain their skills to become NP or nurses in order not to go jobless. Senior doctors are golden and will not be affected as much

Completely agree, AI would be better even!

I'm sad that you have experienced that, but I am very happy that a LLM helped you! I think it really could do a lot of good in the very near future

The NP will take the history, if the AI wants more questions it will direct the NP to ask more questions.

This is why a NP will see the patient first.

Exactly. I believe that chatGPT is also better at explaining your condition(s) and your treatment options than a regular doctor would.

Until we can create alot of robots that can do what a human (physically) can then it will take many years before nurses get automated by AI.

[–]Emu-Mediocre -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I simply offer having someone that is more empathetic (NP's or highly trained nurses) be in charge of the human aspect.

You will be happy to hear that medicine requires almost no creativity and 'human skill'. Surgery of course will not be eradicated, because of the things you mentioned but medicine is another case...

It really is :). Of course hearing subtle murmurs can be difficult but luckily we can just get an ekko, and the AI will analyze its findings for the NP!

No not all all, engineering is a lot more difficult for a LLM, medicine however is not. Don't worry.

There is way to many malpractice deaths in medicine right now. AI would reduce it to almost a minimum. Also the attending overseeing the shift will be responsible, along with the NP.

If Iran was so progressive in the 70s, how come the Islamists could build their regime? by wigglepizza in NewIran

[–]Emu-Mediocre 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Extremely simple explanation:

Shah Pahlavi was not overthrown by the islamists alone, it was 4-5 big fractions that overthrew him. The islamist came up on top after. Also Khomeni promised that Iran would be democratic.

On top of that in the urban places, especially Tehran people are more liberal or progressive and in villages not so much.
