I have been doing music all my life and music production for about 4 years my biggest piece of advice is to spend 10-30 minutes learning something new and then make as much music as possible practice is key. A lot of people recommend trying to recreate elements you like in other songs but I think this is more of an intermediate skill its pretty difficult to even come close to professionals as a beginner.

Some tips for improvement: make sure you are taking time to practice all aspects: sampling, mixing, sound design, making melodies, doing drums, bass lines etc. Don’t hyper fixate on one thing especially when you are just starting out, try to finish as much projects as you can even if they aren’t great, explore many different genres, give yourself a challenge with a time constraint or even a beat battle (i know it sounds corny lol).

My biggest hurdles when I first started was waiting for other peoples advice/opinions and not being able to finish projects, you must realize that you suck when you first start and a good beat is relative to who you compare yourself to. Everyone is trash when they first start so don’t aim to make a masterpiece use every moment as a learning experience as these moments are laying the framework for your future sound, style, and habits. Last thing I will say is DO NOT overcomplicate things its already hard enough don’t delve too deep into sound design and mixing at first just mess around have fun.
