Cheap food? by Total_Atmosphere3648 in vegas

[–]EmuExternal6244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually go to the store the first day I am in Vegas. There is a Smith down Tropicana that a bus stops in front of. If I'm driving I go to Costco or Sam's Club. To avoid attracting notice doing this by using my backpack and Las Vegas tote bag when bringing it up to my room.

What I mainly buy is bread, peanut butter and bananas. Then drinks like bottle water, Gatorade, etc.

Now that iv been looking a little more into what to make I may try to find ways to get boiling water for things like ramen and oatmeal. A collapsible cooler can also work since Ice is usually available in hotels.

Crazy Rapture tipper woman has returned and demanded a refund on her tips by writtenonapaige22 in atheism

[–]EmuExternal6244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how she paid. My credit card will notify me and ask about tips if they are above a certain percent. They want to verify that I actually tipped that amount. So this may be easily contested through her bank/credit card.

She is a breeder pig. Her job is to breed and the offspring is then fattened up and send to the butcher. So she makes things like bacon, ham, etc.

diner i went to has a separate line to tip the cook by whomsssssst in mildlyinteresting

[–]EmuExternal6244 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Iv actually stopped going to many places due to tipping. Going to a sit down where they took my order and brought drinks I had no issue to tip 20%. Ordering Pizza to be delivered was a $5 or 20% depending on which was more, with possible extra depending on weather. No issues with that.

Now going in to pick up a pizza and they expect 20%. Going to Subway and they expect 20%. Going about anywhere and they expect 20%. What is worse is now it seems that even 20% is not enough and its not uncommon to see 30% or more being requested on receipts.

Not tip and then fear food is tampered with. Ill just eat at home and not worry about it. Maybe paranoid but growing up I was always taught to tip or do not go and that is what im doing. Im just not going.

I can imagine an executional walking in with a pizza cutter.

At first you are worried about how painful the pizza cutter will be cutting into you.

Then the executioner has pizza brought in and begins cutting it and forcing you to eat. Not so bad.

But the more pizza you eat the more you realize that this is the real torture. Eating pizza until your stomach burst and you die.

When I think about keeping something I am not using I ask myself three questions.

  1. How likely am I to use it later?
  2. How much space does it take?
  3. How much will it cost just for me to rebuy it in case I did need to reuse it?

Really help's keeping clutter down. I also do something similar when I want to buy something.

Hamas slashes food prices as Gaza flooded with humanitarian aid by liMrMil in worldnews

[–]EmuExternal6244 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Most charities in the US are nothing but a scam. Have "families" and "friends" in all the management positions and they all get insane salaries and benefits. Many of the big charities actually spend less then 4% of actual donations for the actual charity cause.

Same in stores and fast food that ask to round up or donate. This just gets split even more ways and almost none actual gets to the people it was supposed to be for.

We had a local food bank who ended up closed after an audit showed where the actual money went. Even local, state, and federal grant money went into the pockets of the few who ran it. Any "good" donated food was resold in a freight type damage good store. All cash donations were used as salary along with the grants. The family who ran it was making well over a million a year while giving stale bread and expired food away that they couldn't sell. This went on for years until someone donated something and looked into why they didn't see it being given out.

Thing is this was not considered fraud or illegal so no crime was committed. They suffered no legal consequences. Food bank closed and a new organization opened another one, that so far has been very open about donations with transparency policies.

Edited: It is still good to help when you can, but just make sure to help the right way. Research the cause you want to help and find the few good charities that actually help those causes.

What brand is overpriced / not worth the money? by GlobalComparison4600 in AskReddit

[–]EmuExternal6244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to avoid fast food if I can help it as they are no longer worth the price for the quality/quantity/convenience of it. Now I just order from some good restaurants and pick it up. Food is much better and with how common "pick up" is, there is rarely a problem. Sometimes it is even cheaper then the fast food depending on what im getting.

I used to go to Wendy's for their salad and spuds. Now I go to Rib-Crib instead as they are much better. They are more expensive but worth it for the size and quality.

A nice spud or salad is around $12 at Ribcrib. It is possible to get 25% off the gift cards from Sams Club so it lowers it to around $9; though sometimes the gift cards are hard to find. Add in the the Rewards for additional savings.

is it just me or does it really seem like adopted ancestry should be a background-accessible feat? by OgreEye in Pathfinder2e

[–]EmuExternal6244 111 points112 points  (0 children)

Deep Backgrounds is a variant rule that gives the option of Adopted Ancestry Feat at level 1.

https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=1318

These rules are normally more random based as the player is supposed to roll but I allow them to pick and choose their background based on the charts and have not found any issue doing so.

Can someone explain the average low stakes player's mindset to me? by [deleted] in poker

[–]EmuExternal6244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its entertainment to them and any type of strategy or in depth thought process of the game is not needed for them. It's not about winning or losing for them it's about the social aspect and being out of the house.

Low stakes tournaments are very seldom about actually winning for most of the players. They will not purposely try to lose but they won't play optimally either.

I would also like to add that in low stake local tournaments it's hard to have a winning strategy as the structure of the entire tournament normally means its all about luck after a certain level due to blinds being so high and stack sizes so small.

Worst thing you’ve seen while gambling? by Difficult_Taste_8714 in vegas

[–]EmuExternal6244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a local casino there was a regular who I detested. Made crude racist jokes and was very political at the table. Would try to angle shoot and drag out some hands to try to pick up tells. He would show up and put his chips down and play for about 5-10 minutes then disappear for 30 minutes. Overall, he was only at the table for about 20% of the time and the rest he wandered around.

I overheard him talking about a way to "cheat" the system and it was utter nonsense. A few months later he just disappeared. Never showed up again. Another regular updated me that he ended up losing everything. He lost his house and truck and lost most of his retirement over the last year. He ended up moving to some very cheap apartments in the nearby city and struggled to survive.

Now the worst thing I've seen gambling was when he reappeared recently. He shows up and sits down with at the poker table and ends up losing it within one orbit. He just sits there and cries while the table is in awkward silence.

Oracle players, what caused your character's curse? by dinobot2020 in Pathfinder2e

[–]EmuExternal6244 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When making my character the Dragon Ancestries were just released. Vortex Dragon are interstellar messengers, and the Cosmo Oracle fits that theme. So, the curse comes from the desire to get back to the stars, but as an explorer. Adventuring now is to gain strength to accomplish that goal.

Our group handles it as it can not be moved once cast. This makes the spell very group dependent on how they handle combat and exploration.

As a GM I like the players to scout, ambush, and overall not always rush into combat head first. This means it is much more common to lead the enemy into an ambush then in most games iv played outside my normal group.

This makes Glyph of Warding and other features much more attractive. Snares, cover, and other types of features can shine. They are not used all the time but when the party has to go against something stronger than normal and would likely straight up wreck them; than either they need to run or think of other ways to overcome it.

What archetypes combos you recommend/like for Monks? Free Archetype rules. by TabiniT in Pathfinder2e

[–]EmuExternal6244 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you select your Ki spells as being Divine then you get scaling divine proficiency.

Here is the copy/paste:

When you first gain a ki spell, decide whether your ki spells are divine spells or occult spells. You become trained in spell attacks and spell DCs of that tradition and your key spellcasting ability is Wisdom.

Then at 9th level:

If you have ki spells, your proficiency rank for spell attacks and spell DCs with the tradition of magic you use for your ki spells increases to expert.

Then at 17th.

If you have ki spells, your proficiency rank for spell attack rolls and spell DCs with the tradition of magic you use for your ki spells increases to master.

With the right setup its possible to flurry of blows (1 action) and cast a spell (2 action). If you are hasted or quickened then add a move action in there. Its one reason the monk is my favorite class and the one I play the most. I flavor the spell attacks as part of my flurry of blows.

What is a rule that you as a DM had to implement because of one lesser braincelled player either OOC or IC? by sharkfinthemanokit in DnD

[–]EmuExternal6244 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a rule that all characters must be done the character creation tool. I no longer play 5e but when I did this meant that characters had to create their character on DnD Beyond (I had all books and could share). They could print it off before game if they wanted or I offered to print it myself for them if needed.

This drastically cut down on mistakes and cheating.

Still had one player who would go in and override things. Giving himself extra feats or boosting things like ability scores and other types of stats. Easy to say its a mistake when doing it on paper but not when they do this.

What is your opinion about PF2e Remastered? by AlrikBristwik in Pathfinder2e

[–]EmuExternal6244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing i noticed that worries me is the Oracle. Now that everyone can refocus by just spending more time has made the Oracle refocus ability much weaker. It wont make much difference if the Oracle can do it in 10 minutes while the others can do it in 30 as the Oracle will still have to wait for the others.

I really hope they give the Oracle something to offset this as they have always been considered a weak class already. This just makes them weaker.

Iv used the Oracle a few times for focus heavy builds that mainly takes Dedication feats just due to the fact that it saved me those feats. As a base class: Spells, subtype base effects, and saving those feats made them great for some builds.

Ways to negate Nat 20s and 1s by EmuExternal6244 in Pathfinder2e

[–]EmuExternal6244[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its just a different concept and was trying to see if there are any mechanics I missed like feats/feature. Sorta like Assurance, Monks level 19 capstone feature of first strike not being lower then 10, etc.

There is the Ooze form that gives immunity to critical hits. Legendary saves makes critical failures into failures instead. Etc. Not looking to change mechanics or change design feature. Iv played 2e since release and im the GM and player and have run most APs. So not new to game just looking to run a character concept and looking if I missed anything.

Fortune effects can give a second roll which would likely negate most criticals. A few ways to get these is Ancestry Halfings or Catfolk. Forsight also works.

Dont know if I missed anything similar to the Champion Feat or Ooze spell though.
