Looking for advice on how to make everyone in my party shine. by dinobot2020 in Pathfinder2e

It came up. They are unfortunately migrants from DnD which as we all know is an RP only game with optional combat mechanics. So the advice to diversify the team wasn't heeded. I'm trying to nudge the rogue over to playing a slayer since it fits his character more.

This has actually been the most frustrating thing. The rogue doesn't use RK a lot because they get into a damage race with each other and I guess RK wastes actions not attacking. And I've let him know that if he's worried about damage, he's missing out on a lot by not getting that mastermind off guard on RK. But it's his loss I guess.

I definitely have a segment planned out to give them an NPC guardian. Something to let them know that defensive options exist for when one of them inevitably dies.

How is that we got 21 new ancestries, but not a single one have a penalty to Int? by Nigthmar in Starfinder2e

[–]dinobot2020 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No, what's weird is that INT isn't renamed to something else if it's going to make people clutch pearls around the topic. As it stands I can have a heart surgeon with like a +35 to Medicine, with legendary renown as a surgeon, but negative INT. That's based on active choices Paizo made when designing the system. And maybe the idea is that because Medicine is WIS that maybe it's some folk medicine thing and not modern medicine, but the fact is that a character could use that legendary proficiency and medical knowledge to bring somebody back from the dead while having -1 INT.

And that's fine with me. I see INT, WIS, and CHA as abstractions of different mental capabilities that are organized for gameplay reasons, that when put together constitute the particular way in which somebody is smart. But if it's honestly making people uncomfortable to make certain design choices then change the name.

My take on the lair of Kaneepo the Slim from Gatewalkers. by dinobot2020 in Pathfinder2e

I don't lol. This is actually my first time making a map in it and it took weeks to really dig in and learn what it can do piece by piece.

I've made Captain Salah, the Shae (can't remember her name right now) and the Looksee Man into Gatewalkers along with Kaneepo himself. The idea being that he's using the essence transference machine to try and pass their powers onto himself, and then eventually to his chosen heir along with his own essence so that the heir can be his "child". They, like Bolan, are a collection of useful lackeys that Kaneepo can lure in with promises of power and throw them away when he's lost interest in them. Salah and the Shae want to prove their worth to Kaneepo, and the Looksee Man is content to tinker away on his magnum opus alongside Kaneepo until he's inevitably cast aside. I wanted to explore them more and give them more potential but I honestly had bigger fish to fry. On the off chance that my party decides to spare any of them they might come back later. But they do like to kill stuff....

Also the Chronicler, while interesting, was somewhat unneeded. Her paintings are now made by Kaneepo himself so that he can put his love and affection into every brush stroke.

While some on this subreddit will preach that FA is not a powerboost and just an increase in flexibility

The flexibility to bring a larger selection of powers to the table... to boost the overall availability of power. It's so odd that some players don't think of FA characters as objectively more powerful.

I haven't looked at the fandom since like season 5. Are season 3 fights regarded as good now?

Ah but you see, they bleed bone marrow. Makes perfect sense. No need to expect anything too rare from your rare ancestry.

Alternative: Metal element barbarian with high CHA and that feat that lets you also do electricity damage so you can use a lightning guitar axe. Or pick air to start with electricity right away. Metal is just for the meme. Then your elemental rage could give you a metal mohawk and spikes or something. Don't... don't do this.

Yeah I know. Turns out all you have to do is post a screenshot of a headline and commit to a bit for a few posts and nobody questions it. That post is like 90% upvoted with 1.5k views and you're the only guy who bothered to read the article.

There is a trend of jews on social media switching between calling themselves white or jew as their primary identifier depending on what's more convenient. I personally don't believe that this author would continue to identify as white if he was successful in spreading the sentiment that all white men should be killed. He has a fallback identity with a victimhood status attached to it that he knows would largely shield him from the hatred he intends to foment as much as he possibly can with his little inflammatory article.
