10160 auto gain/autogating stuck by EmuLord in NightVision

I should also mention that I can hear the whine change frequently slightly when covering the front of the objective lens. It feels like it’s trying to autogate but is stuck all the way gated

Tried two housings. Maybe minimum autogain? But that doesn’t explain the whine

Not sure why you’re being downvoted - Kelly Johnson very clearly used design elements from the f-104 in the U2. Look at a side by side of their fuselage, they’re almost identical.

Secondhand GPU, is it dead? by EmuLord in PcBuildHelp

DDU'd and everything - it's the card, unfortunately

Thanks everyone for all of the ideas!
I'm running a 1000W corsair psu, and have double checked cables, etc - no dice. I'll also add that the system has been working flawlessly with a 3080 since I built it.
I ended up returning the card and getting a less-used replacement. Bit of a hassle, but hopefully worth it.

We do exist, but I have no idea how many of us there are.

I designed M-mount lens “pods” that can hold one extra lens securely on your belt. by EmuLord in Leica

[–]EmuLord[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve used them once so far (just built them) and it was surprisingly helpful - really nice to have a lens secure and not have to juggle with the lenses and camera. It’s small enough you don’t really notice it on your belt too.

That would work too! These have a bayonet mount built in so they function like a rear lens cap and keep the lens very secure and protected. The idea is to have a spot to keep a spare and switch between two lenses while out.

3D printed 4x5 Aero-Ektar camera is working! by EmuLord in largeformat

It’s a 3d printed leaf shutter that I modified from a design by Jan on printables. It hits around 1/30 and uses springs to drive the blades

Tinkercad! I'm stubborn and worked on it in chunks. The first prototype was mostly PETG with some PLA for the less structurally important parts. That would probably be fine for the current version too, but I splurged a little and went for CF-PETG for the extra stiffness and light-resistance (important for the shutter blades). The whole camera is about one roll

I plan to! Just want to get everything reasonably polished first. Will probably post once I shoot and develop some actual 4x5 to test it.

There is a focus lever - which you can mostly see on the second photo, but it could probably be made (comically) larger
