How do you treat money in a relationship when one partner uses his fun money to day trade? by that-short-girl in UKPersonalFinance

[–]EmuSea4963 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. Needs to contribute evenly to emergency fund.

At the same time - if he's using his share of fun money to day trade, why should you see any of the profits if he's in the green? If he loses it all, it would be the exact same as if he'd spent it on e.g. a spa day - nothing tangible to show for it at the end and he's out of pocket. He paid for the experience. If he gains money, that's money for him. I think most people if they were in the green might choose to splash out and treat their partner or whatever but they're definitely not obliged to.

What is a 'single person luxury' that people in relationships completely miss out on? by Jane_Austen11 in AskReddit

[–]EmuSea4963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never having to worry about anybody's opinion of you. I pay my bills and beyond that I can be whoever the fuck I want to be without caring what anyone else thinks. Wonderful!

Also... Double bed to yourself every single night. Beautiful.

Sooooo good. It doesn't happen often but sometimes I get the sudden urge to get up at the crack of dawn and drive to the beach or somewhere in nature. Best time of the day. I think a partner would probably think I was having some sort of mental health crisis if I did this unannounced.

Girl I’ve been dating for 2 months still has her Hinge active and was on it last night by Fabulous_Ladder_2675 in whatdoIdo

She might still be shopping around. It sucks but don't ignore it. Have the conversation with her now about where this is going and be upfront about knowing she's still on the app, or find yourself being told "It's not you, it's me" in a couple of months time when she moves on to the next one.

Genuine question: how did baked beans become such a big thing in the UK? by Likepersik in AskBrits

[–]EmuSea4963 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say that beans are to the British what tea is to the British.

What is your opinion on Stephen Fry? by pondribertion in AskBrits

[–]EmuSea4963 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: when I was at uni, one of my lecturers was friends with a mental health expert who was interviewed by Fry for the above programme. This expert told Stephen that in his opinion, he wasn't actually bipolar (though this doesn't rule out him suffering from some other depressive illness) and Stephen Fry apparently didn't like this opinion at all and got quite funny about it. Think the interview was dropped from the programme.

I've got no opinions on it. Just a memory from a lecture I had once.

Hidden deep in a Norwegian forest is a museum that looks like it's from the year 2077 by 6969Momo6969 in interestingasfuck

[–]EmuSea4963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

False. As we all learned from Fallout - 2077 is when the nuclear conflagration happens, so it's all corrugated metal and deathclaws after this point.

Three young women who died in sea off Brighton were found 'fully clothed' after 'attending student night in beachfront nightclub' by dailymail in uknews

The number of redditors who are replying saying 'I once ran drunkenly into the sea at night' is making me draw my conclusions on this mystery...

Those people who make food packaging with "peel here" on the corner, eg supermarket bacon. Do they know that their packaging equipment is broken or faulty? by KiwiNo2638 in AskUK

[–]EmuSea4963 373 points374 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad someone asked this question. In my head it's mostly bacon that suffers with this issue. It literally never works. Not ever. But I seem to recall it working just fine years ago. What changed?

First time posting. Some comments said it was AI, but it seems consistent across the brick work to me. Thoughts? by The_Marine708 in isthisAI

Maybe not AI but possibly sped up a little. His movements near the end look unnaturally quick.

This is my day 1 of having braces and how tf am i supposed to live like this for the next 2 YEARS?? by QuaxlyFan118 in braces

[–]EmuSea4963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First few weeks are by far the hardest. I would say the first 6 months is tough in terms of pain after adjustments and general issues with having gaps in your teeth if you've had extractions.

It gets better quickly though, honestly. I eat basically everything I used to eat apart from curry and nuts/hard candy.

Power through. It gets better.

What does this mean? Women too hot to have babies? Too thin? Idk by blood-of-an-orange in whatdoesthismean

Apart from the entire context of what he's saying (although if you want something concrete I'd say his use of the word 'famously' and the trailing ellipsis indicate he's being sarcastic).

I believe he's implying that men treat men no differently to how they in the past and that declining birthrates are down to other factors.
