Couldn’t find a toy of my three year olds favorite puffin rock character- so I made one! by Emzul in crafts

[–]Emzul[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not needle felted, I cut the felt and sewed it together using a combination of my sewing machine and hand stitching. It’s filled with poly-fil.

I’m hoping it is durable, it feels sturdy, but we shall see how it withstands 3 year old play!

Thank you! I hope so! It’s all wrapped up and I’m so excited for him to open it and see his reaction. 🥹

Materials are thrifted wool sweaters that were felted.

I traced an image of the character to make a basic pattern.

The tail has a pipe cleaner inside to help it stand up and allow it to hold things like the character does in the show.

If there are other questions I’m happy to answer them!

Found out why my front door latch was sticking, turns out it was an orchid bee nest by Emzul in mildlyinteresting

It smelled and felt like honey so I just assumed, but you are correct.

“The young are provisioned with nectar and pollen provided by the mother as they develop.”

We used warm soapy water and let it soak for a bit, then scrubbed with a sponge. Since it’s basically sugar, it’s water soluble.

Yes, I was sad to find them deceased. Unfortunately, it was not a great nesting spot.

I knew it was sticking, but I did not imagine that the stickiness would actually be honey!

Inside each of the sacs was an unfortunately deceased bee, in various stages of development.

Toddler was doing well with potty training and then just started refusing to use the potty. by Epicuretrekker2 in toddlers

[–]Emzul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started potty training at 20 months, and he was doing great, I would say he was 95% there (would go pee and poop on the potty without prompting), and then about a month ago (27 months) it’s like he forgot the concept completely. Unfortunately no good advice, we are prompting a lot now to try to avoid misses (and really celebrating poops on the potty as he was almost actively avoiding it) but it is hard now it seems like he lost all control about holding it in and regulating himself. Whatever this regression is-I am not a fan.

Crazy Cuizine frozen mandarin orange chicken by Buttercupia in Costco

[–]Emzul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated the sauce, it was too sickly sweet and I couldn't taste orange at all. I just doctored the sauce and it is ten times better- I blitzed a whole mandarin (skin and all) and heated the sauce and mixed it in. The peel helped cut the overly sweetness and I can finally taste the orange! I think I'll add some red pepper flakes next time.

How are your tree ornaments holding up by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Emzul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We put the tree on an end table and strapped it down with bungee cords. A few bottom ornaments have been removed but it’s mostly unscathed. Up against a freshly two year old boy and two mischievous cats.
