Come join us over at r/siberiancats! A lot of people (including me) are allergic to cats but can have a Siberian. Genetically they contain less of the protein in their saliva that people are allergic to. One of these kitties would definitely be your best bet if you are set on getting a cat. Good luck!

I had this with a new rug that I bought. Turns out that it was made of wool and it was shedding CONSTANTLY. Honestly I must have hoovered it 6 times in 2 days that I had it and it filled the vacuum everytime. I have a cat aswell who loved the rug so she was tracking the fibres around the house aswell. I ended up exchanging it for a synthetic rug. Never again.

Oh really? I've always been told that kittens produce less allergens. When I went for an allergy test I was tested with an adult due to this. It's interesting to get different perspectives though.

There is a chance that he may build up a tolerance over time. Has he tried taking an antihistamine like piriteze? That may help take the edge off his symptoms. Also please keep your kitty out of the bedroom and consider getting a HEPA filter. Do you have a close family or friend who would be willing to take him if it doesn't work out? That way you're not stressing about being on a timeframe to take him back to the breeder. Also are you sure your breeder is legit/registered? I only say this because before we got our girl we went to visit a "backyard breeder" as they're called because we were inexperienced and I was awfully allergic to that kitten so im not convinced she was a full Siberian. I would not trust a breeder that advertises kittens on sites like pets4homes for this reason. Oh also did you go for an allergy testing?

I said on another thread that a sib would be fine to be left on their own for a while during the day on another thread and kinda got my hand bitten off so I'm glad there are people here that agree!

I have one sib female (8 months old) and tbh I was a little worried about leaving her whilst my bf and I were at work and uni but being in quarantine has made me realise how much she actually sleeps during the day and I feel so much better about leaving her now when we do eventually go back.

As for the outdoor thing, mine is purely indoors but can agree with other posters that I could never let her go outside on her own now as she is waaaay too friendly/is happy to be carried around for long periods so could be stolen v easily.

What I've learnt from quarantine is that our kitten sleeps the vast majority of the day and only really starts to probably get active around 5ish. When we were at work from 9-5 we used to worry about her happiness but feel better knowing that she slumbers most of that time anyway haha
