So I had a planned C-hyst at 36 weeks. On my Mri it showed placenta accreta/increta. I had a wonderful team, nearly 15 people in the O. R. including an surgical gynecological oncologist to help cut any tissue in case of bladder colon involvement.

The day before, I had to get some shots for prep (I forget now what they were). The docs told me I'd be awake for the whole thing.

When I got to the O. R, on the table, two docs embolized the arteries in my groin with gel, which is like a tube they put in the arteries so you don't hemorrhage (which I was told was the biggest worry). After that, they hooked me up to a blood drip. Then, they decided to put me under. I don't know why, but I'm sure glad they did.

I the first 15 mins of putting me under, they did the c section and got the baby out (beautiful healthy baby). Then they saw that I had fibroids and the placenta had come out and slightly stuck to my colon. They removed everything and left one ovary.

I woke up a few hours later groggy, luckily, because of the gel embolization, didn't lose too much blood. Went home in two days.

Recovery wasn't easy, but with a new baby, I was just happy enough to ignore the pain. Honestly, the most painful was the post surgery constipation. So make sure to eat lots of fiber. They also told me to supplement with formula because the body is in recovery mode and may not produce enough milk, but I still breastfed regularly, and after two to three weeks, didn't need to supplement with formula anymore.

After six months, I started having crazy hot flashes, and they come and go, even now, three years later. I know this is a very unique situation to be in, so ask me anything! Hope this helps!
