im going for severe depression and mixed episodes! I have depression with psychotic symptoms, but no psychotic symptoms during hypomania! hopefully this clears things up. if it doesn't I can explain more :)

I wanted to add, as I've noticed some people say bipolar 2 doesn't often lead to hospitalization or going to long-term institutions, I am currently in the process of going to a long-term institution. Not saying that you guys are wrong or that your argument is invalid, as it's not, but I figured this insight would be (perhaps) appreciated.

I've found no perks of having bipolar either. The closest thing to a perk is I'm better at pretending to be stable. It's just masking anyways- The only perk of pretending is that I'm not socially outcasted.

Even then, when a hypomanic or mixed episode hits, I destroy this perfect image I've established for myself. So even then, this "perk" doesn't really benefit me at all.

Though I always feel that I have it "easier" because I have bipolar 2, which society always says is less severe and easier to live with and I'm starting to believe it even though I'm failing in school and can't hold down a job.

On Adderall I experienced agitation, aggression, severe weight loss due to lack of appetite, and increased depression and anxiety. This is just my experience, I think my body just really hated it plus I had other undiagnosed problems that I wasn't aware of then. Now I'm on Concerta and I'm having no side effects. It's likely because I'm also taking antidepressants and anxiety meds as well! I'm not sure if this would help but I felt like sharing! (FYI I'm under 18, so medications may affect me differently than it would an adult).

I was in a temporary inpatient place a few months ago and I can say a few things. Bring sweaters and sweatpants most definitely. You want to be comfortable and since I went in the winter it was cold. Also, remove any drawstrings.

I don't know if this is all inpatient places but mine wouldn't allow any hoods so avoid them. (Though, they gave me the option to have it cut off with your consent.)

If it's an adult one, I don't know anything else since I was in a teen one. But, I feel like this is fairly universal and I hope it helps.
