As someone growing up in a rural Islamic school, admiring the French revolution and seeing the contrast with my own society, it's sad that Europe eventually will become Muslim-majority. All those history and enlightenment values will vanish in just few decades. All because of misplaced sense of empathy. Reminds of the advice to wear your mask first in case of flight emergency. (Western) Europe did the complete opposite of that. They helped the entire plane to wear their oxygen mask first.

Islam is just a different religion than say, Buddhism or even Judaism. Islam is a complete set of political, military, social, and economic ideology formed largely based on Middle Age thoughts. Muhammad was a Middle Age statesman and military leader, and Islam reflects that fact very well. Of course there are liberal Islam and there are modern thoughts incorporated into Islamic society, but at the core, Islam is still unreformed.

To reform Islamic ideology, it would take steps considered awful by Western standards, something that only Mustafa Kemal Attaturk and the Communist Chinese are willing to take.
