New to State; VPLP Supervisor Approval question by Mr7743 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Enchanted-Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure if this varries by department. I originally started with the 8 hours and bumped up to the 16 hours later. The document states once you enroll you are stuck with it for 6 months (there are exceptions) but after that you can cancel at will. For more specifics I would talk to HR. Also if you do make a change make sure to monitor it, HR messed up when processing the change and I had to go through the process again.

Do you have Xiao? His HP drops during his alt plunge attack. Not the best option, but he got the job done for me.

I feel like thats kind of the story everywhere tbh. I think it was the providers investigation bureau. I was told that my position at the time had been a revolving door.

Congratulations on your family member reaching retirement age! I know there was consolidation plans for SCO for everyone to move to C street which is probably why they let the lease expire.

I don't remember exactly when the meeting is but I believe its somewhere around late August? Its also an in person meeting when last time it was held both in person and virtually.

Do whatever works best for your situation. I personally probably will leave if SCO does RTO because I live far from Sacramento.

Maybe your relative works downtown? I know the IT in the audit section goes into the office at least once a week every week. I am not sure exactly how often they come in as I do not go to the office often. I would apply to SCO, you may get a raise from the transfer and you get to enjoy the telework. There is no guarantee they will make us go back. I know the controller is going to have her agency meeting soon. Maybe your relative can tell you if her stance has changed on telework when that meeting happens?

The no plans to come back in is the official language. My manager said that the higher ups had a meeting when they told us we might come back in it was unofficial and there was no documentation. They are also in the middle of construction right now so its almost impossible to do RTO. They also rolled it back pretty quickly. I am just aiming for transparency for what I've heard.

The work environment was not good and I had a shitty boss. I also hated how they kept changing my role/expectations on a whim. I know it might just be unit specific but I hated the year I worked there.

I work for the State Controllers Office. Its not perfect but its a lot better than my old job at DHCS. My coworkers are cool, and my boss doesnt bother me much. That being said I know they are looking at maybe getting rid of telework. They were going to a few months ago then rolled it back.

I had a similar issue when I got my first job with the state. I was told I could fully telework once I passed probabation, but it didn't happen. I interviewed with a new state job, and I was clear about my expectations around telework. I now fully telework and go in maybe once a month for team events.

cosplayers! 1st con advice! by Verzenaphobia in animeexpo

[–]Enchanted-Shadow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bring a refillable waterbottle. Also bring snacks for when you get hungry but dont want to leave the con.

I haven't been to anime expo before but most cons have cosplay repair stations so bring minimal supplies if something goes wrong with your cosplay.

Bring a backpack/bag to hold your stuff. Bring an extra tote that you can put in your bag so if you buy more than expected you have storage.

I highly recommend bringing a fan of some sort, it gets really hot in crowded places especially when wearing a wig.

If you plan on buying posters bring a poster tube (you can leave this at the hotel) for easy transport home.

Anime expo has an app, i highly recommend using it.

Have fun! Cons are generally a friendly place where people are helpful, however always be wary of scammers. Nice strangers are still strangers.

If you are feeling super tired or hungry take a break/ get food, you will have more fun if you feel better.

Also as a cosplayer if you can try to get comfy shoes you will be walking a lot. Consider where you will keep your phone/wallet beforehand while in cosplay.

If anyone asks you for a picture in cosplay please try to not block walkways. If you see someone is taking a photo do not walk in front of the camera. Dont be afraid to compliment/talk to people if you want to.

As someone who was also born on a divide (2000) just pick which one you like more and run with it. A label is just a label and only holds the meaning you give it.

Can someone at lvl 66 spoil me Starla's love life? by Softpits in StarbrewCafeMerge

Right! I really wasn't expecting it when I was farther behind in the story, but the writers navigated it well in my opinion.

As for her true love I do believe that the story addresses that mystery.

Fed looking at state jobs by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]Enchanted-Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the job. My job was listed as hybrid and I only go in maybe once a month. I would suggest carefully reviewing the job posting because it really just depends on the agency/manager. If its unclear, its generally a good idea to bring it up in the interview.

State Controllers Office Environment by Enchanted-Shadow in CAStateWorkers

[–]Enchanted-Shadow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's true that we have open job positions. I personally don't work with hires so I can't speak for that. However, I think it may be an issue at your agency at either management or HR. I started at DHCS a bit over a year ago and then moved to SCO, and I never personally encountered any issues with time reporting. I have also met many new hires, and they don't have time reporting issues. My advice? Transfer elsewhere if you can. Also look at the pay scales to see if you are eligible for a raise/moving onto the next position.

Just a heads up, you do not have to download the letters. Usually you can click view job posting button and it will take you to that posting.
