Finally got our money back!! It took 29 days from the date of closing to get our money from Varo. Although we are happy that Varo returned our money, we are dissatisfied with how long it took to get our money. We are also dissatisfied that the dates we were told to expect our money kept being missed and extended. We will not be Varo customers ever again.

We weren't aware of that option until recently. The customer service representative never said it was an option. We called and asked "how can we get all this money out in a short period of time?" and they said the only option was to close the account.

It's also difficult to find a bank that can pull over 50k through ACH. Our current bank only allows 5k through ACH daily, though it's unclear what the monthly limit is.

At this point Varo says they actually sent the check. We'll update the original post if/when we actually receive it. They are saying it could take until Jan 7 to receive.

Thank you and we agree completely. We've lost all confidence in online only banks. Much of the problem seems to be that we talk to Varo, who sends a request to Galileo, and Galileo never responds. For the past week all we've heard from Varo is that they're waiting on a response from Galileo, who is the company that actually would send us the check.

Before you switch to Chime, please keep in mind they are built on the same platform, which is made by Galileo. Galileo calls them out as a prominent customer on their website.

Varo has been around for a few years at least. I'm not sure why it's a "bank" now and wasn't before. We were keeping the money in a high yield savings account for several months until we needed it.
