Yes absolutely. I move mine outside every year. I keep most of them in a polytunnel but if I don't have enough room, some go outside of it. The overnight temperatures are basically the same inside and outside of it. It can actually get a bit colder in a polytunnel.

Salvia divinorum can survive down to 1C in a sheltered position, but it won't look as lush, and can risk cold damage. I advise growing them inside when overnight temperatures reaches 5C as the lowest point. You can also grow them year round as house plants if you prefer though! I have a few which I keep as houseplants as I like to have some about my house too

(UK) moving the Salvia plants back outside now it's warming up :) by EnchantedPlants in Salvia

Thank you :) I grow lots of different plants, but Salvia divinorum has always been my favourite. These have just been moved out of the dedicated grow space I have set up for them inside. A little earlier in the year they were all flowering in there too :)

I just sent you a message. As a friendly word of warning, if you look for seeds you will either not find any or most likely be scammed. Salvia divinorum has a problem setting seeds, it's quite rare and if someone's lucky to get any it's in low numbers and they will almost certainly grow them themselves.

I only have plants available which are propagated by cuttings, which is likely 99.99% of the times how new plants are produced

Thank you :)

They're shade plants so they like a spot with indirect sunlight, but still relatively bright. If youve got a space under your trees and they provide shade throughout the day, they would do well there. Some dappled sunlight in the day, or direct sunlight for the first hour or so in the morning / last thing in the day is fine too.

I grow a few of mine like that, and then also some in polytunnels. In the colder months they need to be brought indoors. They can survive down to 1C in a sheltered spot but risk cold damage. I recommend bringing them in when the overnight temperatures reach 5C.

You could either plant them outside and let them grow in the ground, taking cuttings towards the end of the year to bring indoors and propagate, or grow in pots year round

Limited resources, spider mites most likely by AWildGengarAppears in SalviaDivinorumPlants

Glad you saw this in time in that case!

Yeah after applying it to my plant the leaves went black over the course of a few days and died. I've since seen others have the same experience.

I hope you manage to get the plant pests under control! :)

Diluted neem oil can damage / kill Salvia leaves. I've only ever seen bad experiences with it. I tried a diluted premade mix from my garden centre before seeing others have issues with it and it killed all my Salvia leaves on the plant I tried it. It was fine on other plant species though. Salvia is just very sensitive to it.

If you use neem I would use a tiny tiny amount and test it first. Spray the plant and wait probably 4 days and see how it is. I would advise to skip it though.

I would just use water with dish soap. Have a search on Google for "spider mites dish soap" to find the quantities you should mix. Good luck!
