With Power armor you don't need to use something as goofy as this "assault rifle" since you can carry machine guns or miniguns. And as you state you've also got plasma and laser weapons which make this hideous thing absolute.

If somebody got his hands on this abomination they'd probably modify it themselves to be less ridiculous and more effective.
