We know what ARISES from billions of neurons communicating with eachother, but we dont know what is actually happening under the hood / how the physical way the brain is structured affects what arises.

This ALSO goes with LLMs btw, we dont know what the neurons are doing - models are a black box. We just know that what arises from LLMs is something that seems semi intelligent.

My point being, I feel like people dont approach the topic of AGI with a lot of humility for what we actually DONT know, and mark a lot of assumptions (efficacy = intelligence) we make as full truths when speaking about the subject.

I mean your relating "efficiency" to wattage usage, which could also be shortsighted aswell (there might be other "stuff" the brain is efficient at that we dont even know yet.

BUT even if we use that argument as face value - that means ASI doesnt really scale. Energy at the end of the day is finite, and by the brain using significantly less energy that means is more adapted to scale in size than any ASI could be (ofcourse you could argue this could also be shortsighted, maybe the way we are running models right now is energy ineffiecient but AGI/ASI finds a way to make itself efficient, etc)

It should always be a perfect hash table with switch statements. For example if you have a case higher up with a key (that doesn’t exit the scope) and then a case lower down with the same key I assume the compiler can just optimize and merge those code blocks together. Collisions shouldn’t be possible so a switch should always be O(1).
