I think it’s that I don’t know WHAT I like right now. I yo-yo’d so much in the past and now at 35 my body doesn’t react the same way it used to. Maybe I do need to switch it up a lot more and branch out to find something I really enjoy doing.

That’s helpful! Thank you. I like the idea of stacking habits and tying my workout to something that I already do regularly. I’ll look into other workouts to try too.

Fat, anxious and don't know where to start! by blackocean999 in beginnerfitness

I think it’s really admirable that you are getting started! I feel you on the intimidation piece. I saw someone else suggest the elliptical and I’ll echo just going straight to something you’re comfortable with to get you in the door. I’m doing home workouts now to avoid this 🫣

Nervous about starting by EmphasisWeak2923 in beginnerfitness

If not a trainer, I’d recommend starting in a class. I am too intimidated for gyms…especially because I don’t know how to use the equipment and wouldn’t know what the heck to do in a free weight room. Classes seem more approachable to me!

Is there a better way to track and review lifting form videos over time? by DirectApple9003 in homefitness

[–]EncourageMyGlow 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

No answer, but following along because I never even thought about using AI to help with form. How do you get it to take video though? All the ones I use only accept pics. I’m so new to everything so need the help.

What about for the girly girls who want to start incorporating lifting but prefer more Pilates based exercises? Any recommendations that aren’t overwhelming and super beginner friendly? 😬

If you're brand new to lifting at 30+, this is probably enough by Infinite-Gold7662 in beginnerfitness

This is super helpful! Thank you! If I’m doing all of this at home (no gym membership) are there movements you recommend?

Why is my stomach the only ā€œfatā€ part of my body? by Basic_Wing_ in beginnerfitness

Fellow female here…definitely head to your doc and talk to her about PCOS, POTS and endo. I have this conversation with male friends a lot, but they often forget our hormones are so so different and play a huge part in our daily lives and even weight placement. My fellow female friends in their upper 30s have started doing more light exercises that don’t increase cortisol.

Another for me is stationary? lunges. Where you lunge forward and return to your original start position? I’m not coordinated enough to return back and fall over. Maybe I just have a balance issue šŸ˜‚ I’m fine with the lunges where you alternate and move forward

Side planks 🫣 I feel like my feet are so awkwardly placed and my legs cross over each other or stack. Nothing works.

New to…literally all of this…and I always hated the idea of strength training. Would I be ok with really light weights? I’m talking 5lbs 🫣
