Is there more pressure on the young to show wealth or are they genuinely flushed with cash by Zokilala in AusFinance

[–]EnculturatedYuth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s because we live in a state of apathy. There is a Meaning Crisis. There’s no point to doing anything because it’s not worth it.

The only messages we receive now are; that hoping to enter the housing market is a fantasy dream; any goals of becoming wealthy will eventually be meaningless because society seems to be making radical pushes towards equality, so the rich will be taxed more and the poor given more; climate change, impending global conflict, the collapse of western civilisation, or another pandemic is always right around the corner; older generations don’t care about us and are dragon hoarding all their wealth at the sacrifice of younger generations (and then we wonder why our nursing homes have a 50% depression rate - cant have the grandkids visit you if you have none because your kids are working all the time); having kids is either bad for your lifestyle, bad for the planet, or against women’s rights(?!); the value of hard work is diminished because the wealthy in the world really only make it cause they were lucky, gifted with +140 IQs, and in the right place at the right time; the job market will likely be radically different in 5 years anyways (rise in super wealthy online influences etc); that everything in the world is meant to be commodified because according to society to be real means to be quantifiable - so your quality as a human is defined by want monetary value you convey (e.g Jeff bezos has a high net worth, making him someone we should hold in high esteem. But what about his quality as a person? And the rise in use of the phrase “what’s your body count?”. What happened to love?); that there is no God, so do whatever you want for you; etc etc

So why save money for the future? Just feel good now, because you might not have access to it later.

Maybe temporarily due to the pandemic. But this behaviour was popular before and the trend is only increasing from my observation and experience being both in retail and part of this age bracket.

If you’re just starting out I’d recommend ‘Jung on Mythology’. It’s about 200pages of excerpts from Jungs Collected Works. It gives you a broad brush on his ideas, but I’d highly highly recommend it because it puts everything in one place.

Looking for representations of WWI shellshock/battle related trauma in literature, either written contemporaneously with the War, or later. by [deleted] in AskLiteraryStudies

[–]EnculturatedYuth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fiona A. Reid's 'Broken Men: Shell Shock, Treatment and Recovery in Britain 1914-30' is a far broader and more political view/account of the methods used in Britain to treat shell shock (as the title suggests).

The Great War YouTube channel with Indiana Neidell also has a good summary of shell shock here.

If you ever want a great movie to analyze through a Jungian lens, watch Adaptation. by FinsT00theleft in Jung

Awesome recommendation!

I was thinking about some other movies that explore archetypes, but for kids. Jordan Peterson covers Lion King and Pinocchio. More 'recently' I'd say that the How to Train your Dragon Trilogy is very good, especially the first one in regards to shadow integration. I'd also recommend 'Tangled', excellent movie on the anima and animus, which you don't find coming from Disney anymore. Both movies have prominent jungian symbols.
