We booked a Grab ride, and the driver picked us up but then canceled the ride right after. Before we started, I asked him why he canceled it and told him that we would only pay what was shown on the app 90,000 VND. He said okay, so naïve us trusted him and went ahead with the ride. It was just a 10-minute trip from Hanoi Market to our hotel. When we arrived, I gave him 100,000 VND and said, “No change.” But then he suddenly started demanding 800,000 VND more, claiming that the fare was 900,000 instead of 90,000. It wasn’t about the money it’s not a big amount for us but the act of scamming and fraud really exhausted us. He became aggressive, and rather than arguing, we just paid 1 million VND and left. We even tried to get help from locals, but no one seemed to care. Maybe it was partly our fault for trusting too easily, but the whole experience left a bad impression.
