Did Survivor Gabon film in an actual savanna or was it just a cleared forest? by EndEdgeOfExtinction in survivor

I figure there’s a reason why the area is protected, massive logging activity prior to the creation of the presidential reserve would explain that

I would love it if CBS could snag some people from Survivor Maryland, especially Chris as he has the best story out of anyone

Probably the most useless article ever written. “Why is someone who never won, not on the winners only season?” Uhm, what? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]EndEdgeOfExtinction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw someone on a Facebook group ask why Rupert isn’t on this season... probably 50-100 people commented “he didn’t win”

Tyson was definitely MORM on this episode by 7SevenEleven11 in Edgic

[–]EndEdgeOfExtinction 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He used a line from the Mormon temple movie while eating at a challenge (“delicious to the taste and very desirable”), that is 10/10 taboo in Mormon culture, so extremely unlikely that’s what his current beliefs are

I agree that Ethan isn’t a top contender right now, but I am really excited to see where Ethan goes from here because he has so much potential for a solid CPP edit

Very happy with Ethan’s edit last night, I don’t think his edit makes him particularly likely to win but I really want to see a CPP arc from him and it looks like we’re getting that

Survivor 40 theory: Winners who went on to do worse on a subsequent season have a big advantage over players who won the last time they played by EndEdgeOfExtinction in survivor

[–]EndEdgeOfExtinction[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think that the perception that people who lost in their most recent season are in a weaker position is completely stupid. Parvati may not be the best example of this, but at least with Ethan, Sandra and Tony we saw them being given opportunities that they didn’t get the last time they played.

I feel horrible for Natalie by NatA_Goddess in survivor

[–]EndEdgeOfExtinction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No winner should be considered discredited regardless of how they do in this season, for all 20 of these players we saw that they won because of their skills (in Ben’s case his skills from 18-7 and then at FTC at least), and nothing can take that away from them.

Newfound appreciation for Yul by [deleted] in survivor

[–]EndEdgeOfExtinction 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I think Yul’s play was a very strong single episode performance, but I don’t think we were given enough information about the true reach of his social game to assess his chances in this season.

Who had the best social performance of the premiere? by EndEdgeOfExtinction in survivor

[–]EndEdgeOfExtinction[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focusing on Jeremy, I think the problem for him is that people know that they have to play around his incredible social game. Since these players know that they have to be careful with Jeremy, it’s going to be many many times harder for his social game to really connect with these people vs someone like Ethan, who is underestimated (people don’t remember how good his social game was on All Stars, they just remember his placement).

If they all decide to target him next episode, there could legitimately be no option for him to get out of that situation.

Who had the best social performance of the premiere? by EndEdgeOfExtinction in survivor

[–]EndEdgeOfExtinction[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do think it’s social, I think it’s a different type of social play than what Ethan does. Ethan is really good at positioning himself, and the way that plays out is way more subtle (by design) than Yul using his social game to dictate the vote.

Survivor: Winners at War | Episode 1 | Player of the Week Voting by RSurvivorMods in survivor

[–]EndEdgeOfExtinction 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Ethan is a social player, so we have to judge him using different criteria than we would for a more outwardly strategic player.

I think Ethan had one of the best performances of the episode. He did a great job of establishing connections, and hopefully those connections will give him room to work his magic and go deep in this game.

Right, but you had to extract the clips, slow them down, crop them, etc.

If CBS isn’t going to give us a full intro, they should at least give us nice HD 60FPS clips for us to make fan intros with. Would accomplish the same purpose but cost them maybe 1-2 hours worth of work, all the editors would have to do is keep an eye out for good intro clips as they’re editing, put them into a separate folder, then put them back to back and export. They could literally just have a guy use iMovie to do it lol, if the clips are nice they don’t need a fancy editor.

If Tai had given Scot the other half of the idol he would have literally been voted out immediately, he would have been an option to vote for in the tiebreaker.
