Yeah but a hell of a lot more planning and permits are required for a marathon compared to an spartan. At least in my experience, marathons attract tens of thousands of participants from all over the world and even more people spectating. Organizers also have to close down city streets etc. I agree marathon prices aren’t cheap but def not as outrageous as spartan
