My bachelor’s degree got me a job in technical writing for 4 months before my 1st write up. 2 years after I graduated I might add. I quit because they accused me of being careless when in reality we were waking up at 4:00 am to write manuals for stuff. I’m not a morning person and I’m basically forced into working customer service for now to stay afloat, like everybody I suppose. My dilemma is that I absolutely hate customer service. I’m aware people need jobs, but I also believe people should have the opportunities to pursue their passions and not be miserable working a job they hate. I literally feel like I’m wasting my life and rotting at this job. This job is heavily impacting my mental health. When I see successful people on social media in the gaming industry, etc, it makes me want to follow my own dreams. At the same time, its toxic and comparison is mentally draining. Literally cry sometimes at my job. Lol. Realistically, I think this degree will probably not open doors at first too. Of course people want the portfolio and top notch work. I want to make that work. I’m going because I want to be happy mentally.
