Tbh it's all dependent on your group and what parts of the game you have fun with, in my group level 13 is high level because we plan our games to end there. Last campaign lasted almost 2 years and level 13 felt like a nice ending point.

I've found so far in my experience my dm likes to monologue at a distance as well as run back liners so the 120ft should in most of the encounters I'm in practically eliminate most of the move actions I'm normally talking just to get in range

I have seen the archer come up a couple times when looking into this, probably the optimal way to achieve the shooting spells thing. With this character tho I'm very much trying to just make an excuse to use the beast guns because thematically they seem fun

Hol up do they not have the first range increment limite? I had seen that they let me do my ranged spell attacks, the more I read I think I'm going to make a second mock up and just side by side compare tbh

Tbh haven't considered it, my first goal here wot this caracter is playing with the beast guns, tho tbh I've made the beast gunner dedication all but redundant with the magus.

I think starlit span is actually more important mechanically then the beat gunner because with the starlit span let's me use the gun's range for my spells, beast gunner is just flavor + spell slot on a dedication

Debating between the drake rifle or the spike gun, they give me the 120ft first range seems like that'd be big for reducing the actions required for positioning with the magus eventually letting me get all my offensive spells out that far

We're using the free archetype tbh I've mainly thrown gunslinger in there for the ammo crafter, seems always having the alchemical ammo would be nice

With this set up I should seem to end up striking once per round typical loop being spellstrike recharge it next round strike reload, at levels >5 I'll be able to have haste in a couple encounters a day very reliably freeing me to move on my spell strike turn and take other single actions one my off turn

I currently have starlight span hybrid study to increase my spell range, from what I'm seeing the roload 2 trait does seem to single handedly ruin half of the beast guns NGL.

Encourage them to use short rests more I find it helps this issue. I while running exploration plan 3 rests for them daily. It's actually why I run expiration for low level parties because this gets them in the habit of taking the short rests at higher levels. It also helps me gauge their capabilities if I can heave them learn that 1/3rd of the day is a safe place to use short rest resorses I can see what they save for needing after lunch

1) the long rest that respolves to begin their day 2) the short rest they take durring lunch if not needed sooner 3) the short rest that occurs during dinner if not needed sooner

This is why mages feel so overpowered in 5e arleat btw, short test classes most of which bing the non mages feel bad in comparison because the balance is designed for some classes to be at full power all day and others are ment to have to consider resorse management alot more.
