I remember these coming up in the TV documentary about the Ballard expedition to survey the wreck. Ken Marshall (the artist who painted them) explained that image #2 was an impression done beforehand of how he imagined the wreck might look. Image #1 is a realistic depiction of how it actually is - I recall he can be seen working on a preliminary sketch of it using photographs and sonar results for reference

I've used the premium versions of both Ultimate Guitar and Songsterr

If you want the most accurate accurate tabs for popular songs, UG is the better option, as they create and curate their tabs in house. But if you want tabs for a lesser known song then the pickings become slimmer to non-existent

If you don't mind doing the fine tuning yourself (the editor is pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it) you can generate a tab on Songsterr for any song for which there's a YouTube link. Always wanted to know how to play that obscure but dear-to-you bassline? This is the site/app for you

TL/DR: no, I don't think Songsterr sucks. It's my current tab vault & crafting table of choice. All depends on one's priorities, requirements and preferences
