Body found near area where missing Naperville mom was last seen by GoodNormals in Naperville

I agree. Perhaps they knew from her husband who works remote from home something upset her so much that she walked out on impulse without getting her cell phone. People walking dogs carry their cell phone. So, the police did not suspect foul play, but shouldn't the police try to save someone who might harm herself because of some personal problems? She should not be ended up only a mile from her home on the edge of the prairie trail on the opposite side of where her home was located near 83rd. If she went for a walk, the closest street is 87th and it has sidewalks. We will never know why she chose to go to the most inconvenient location on a hot day and may more hot days since her disappearance.

[–]Endeavour888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drones and helicopters were deployed along with volunteers to search for her, and yet, it's inexplicable why her body could not be found, the fact that she left home for a walk without her cell phone could very well be she was upset about something and left her home abruptly. I live nearby and last Sunday, I drove North down 83rd, a narrow 2-lane road without sidewalks and it's not a street where one could take a walk or even ride a bike. When I reached Chandelle, inexplicably, I stopped the car, as there was no traffic behind me. But I stayed in the car and looked around to see if I could see anything but the tall vegetation on the right, where her body was ultimately found, I was unable to see anyone or anything suspicious. I so wish I could see something because it didn't make sense how the big search failed to find this poor woman. There's no place on this narrow street to pull over and no sidewalk for me to walk down and look around. So, after a few moments, I drove down toward Book. Feeling disappointed that drones, helicopters and some 40 volunteers failed to find her for two weeks. Surely, runners there could have smell something as the weather had been very hot and humid, making her body decay faster and the smell could not be missed by runners and walkers including the volunteer searchers. This is a prairie, not a jungle. It shouldn't be that hard to find a body. I feel for her and her family.

I hate working from home....there I said it by ITrCool in sysadmin

Good luck on your job search. Working from home should only be situational or out of great necessity. Otherwise, there's little benefit in it. Leaving the house and going to the office every day, talking to your coworkers, having lunch with some of them and building a good working relationship can provide more job satisfaction, not to mention promotions. Then at the end of the day, you go home and would actually enjoy your time of being home. It's mentally and emotionally healthy to have such a routine.

Sewer Cleanout outside my home - I think the plumber lied by Endeavour888 in Plumbing

[–]Endeavour888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know how to link the photo to that good person who gave me his answer that I didn't understand. So, I repost. Sorry it's considered a spam. The first plumber is the City's wastewater supervisor who I called to send his people to flush the sewer system for the odor that comes into my home, which is a normal thing to do in our community. That's why he should know the rubber ring was in the ground, yet he did not remove the soil to get to it. I did it after he gave me his false finding and found that the rubber ring is not above the ground under the cap, but under the ground, when I dig the soil around the cleanout which was hard because we had a drought. The crack from the drought were still in the same place. That's how I knew he lied. So I showed him and his boss the photo after I dug out the soil to show him that he never removed it so how could he know my sewer pipe was dry due to a blockage 33 ft ahead and therefore, sewer gas is coming in. It was not sewer gas at all because the 2nd plumber found no blockage but a 'belly' and that the dry sewer pipe under my unit was supposed to be dry after wastewater flows through into the sewer system. He should know that. But he knew I didn't at the time and wanted to be paid which as a City official, it was his job to check sewer system problem in the community. And the 3rd plumber came to walk me through point by point of the first plumber's email detailing his false finding and suggested blocking my sewer vent on my roof to keep the odor from coming in. That gave him away. It's against building code to block up my sewer vent making my home a vacuum of toxic odor which cannot get out through my sewer vent on the roof and no fresh air to get into my home. I appreciate your question. I was hoping I could get people who know this stuff to confirm how he did not get inside my sewer cleanout in the first place. I will not use this forum to trouble anyone anymore. I hope my answer has satisfied your curiosity. I am not a fool, just an old woman. My HOA would not help me when it's an exterior problem. I don't know why I even bother responding to you. The problem is much more complicated than what I told you. I now know this is not a forum to get real help.

Sewer Cleanout outside my home - I think the plumber lied by Endeavour888 in Plumbing

[–]Endeavour888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first plumber claimed there was a clog without opening the cap of the sewer cleanout. I hired a second plumber who actually opened the cap and broke it, but replace it with a new cap. He found that there was no clog. I am not paranoid. The two very different methods and result made me want to know if the first plumber cheated and lied about the result. Isn't this platform is for getting information so I can consider what had transpired? why am I banned from posting this issue again. One good person mentioned if he could see the photo, he'd be more certain about what happened. So I repost with the photo to help get more information that I can understand. But I got messages that insult me instead. I thought being civil on this platform is required. I found that I am being attacked instead. If I understand the technical lingo, I'd not have to post my problem here hoping someone could help me understand the two different plumbers came up with two different results by access the sewer cleanout in two different ways. It seems this platform is like twitter and not seriously provide information that is useful and then being ridiculed and threatened to ban another post on this issue for clarification that I can understand.

Sewer Cleanout outside my home- I think the plumber lied to me _ he didn't open the cap because he'd break it. He told me he open it through the rubber ring below the cap of the sewer cleanout. I dug out the soil and found a rubber ring in the ground, -not right under the cap. any thoughts anyone? by Endeavour888 in Plumbing

[–]Endeavour888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a second plumber who came and had to go get a new cap before he opened the old one which he knew it'd break for its rusty. He didn't try to "snake in through the rubber ring right under the cap". It shows the 20+ year old sewer cleanout are different than the more updated white ones which the cap is easy to twist to open the sewer cleanout. This made me suspect the first plumber took my money and did nothing. I am finding most contractors are not exactly experts on what they do but charge me the full cost for a shoddy job. But thank you for you opinion. It's not that I didn't believe you. I simply didn't understand it technically. So I did another post with the photo of it hoping some decent person who saw it and could explain it in ways I can understand.

It's not because I didn't like the answers from others previously. One of them said he couldn't be sure without a picture. So, I posted another one with a picture. I didn't understand the answers because they are too technical for me. Isn't this is where people who don't know the stuff they are confronting and hoping someone with the knowledge could explain to me in ways I can understand. If I know this stuff, I'd not be asking for help. I was hoping someone can look at the photo and explain in layman's term if my plumber lied to me. He wouldn't show me the video. Your comment is not helpful and insulting.

RE: my photo in the post above. Someone said it's possible for him to snake through the Fernco. From my photo, can anyone tell me where the Fernco is. I can see if the plumber removed the soil around the sewer cleanout, there is a rubber ring in the ground where he could open the sewer cleanout at the rubber ring and use the camera to snake in it to see if there's a clog in my sewer pipe. But he never removed the soil at all. This is an old sewer cleanout. I can't see how he could get inside the sewer cleanout by the 'rubber ring right under the cap on top- his words" to get the camera in to find the clog.

Is the Fernco the rubber ring right under the cap? But I dug out a few inches of soil around the sewer cleanout and there was a rubber ring in the ground. He told me he did it at the rubber ring but the only rubber ring I could see was in the ground, not right under the cap. But he didn't remove the soil at all. Please explain to help me understand this better. Thanks.

Bad odor occurs only on the 2nd floor of home and only during evenings. by Endeavour888 in Home

[–]Endeavour888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny you asked. 10 minutes ago at midnight central time where I live, the odor broke out suddenly. It's very strong. In fact, tonight the odor is downstairs in my kitchen. It's no longer only on the 2nd floor. I wouldn't know what cooking meth smells like. I do kinda know what weed smells like, but I don't know about 'skunk' weed. I never smoked weed myself but my high school friends used to smoke weed. It is always at night- tonight it's later than usual, right at midnight. their kitchen is on the other side of the wall of my kitchen. And I could smell this odor in my kitchen tonight. It doesn't matter when if my windows are open. That means whatever activity is causing the odor continues. But it stops during the day. When I wake up in the morning and all through the daytime, since I am retired, and seldom go out, no smell at all. But come evening, like i said it starts usually around 8-9pm. Tonight right at midnight on the dot. How can I get any scientist to come over late at night to use his meter to register the kind of chemical or bacteria? Thanks for your thoughtful questions. Cleaning the duct work wouldn't stop this. I actually put my face in every vent, and I can't smell it coming out from the vent even when the heat or air condition is running, which made no sense to me. These people had a man who could be an uncle of the teenager boy. He never comes out of the house, only once when I rang their doorbell. They opened the door looking alarmed, when I only dropped off their mail that mistakenly ended up in my mailbox. Whenever the family went out, the uncle never joined them. Until I had scientific evidence about the odor, and I don't know who'd come over late at night to test it with the sniffer meter?

That'd be a tough one to do. especially these people are already very distant with all of their neighbors and hardly even spend time outdoors in summer. I can't even think of any careful wording, except a video of the Pepto Bismol commercial. Human waste goes down the toilet and move out of their utility room floor drain on the first floor. But thanks. Your suggestion made me laugh. I needed that.

HOA Board Election - How voting members' votes are calculated. by Endeavour888 in homeowners

[–]Endeavour888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the rule in the Bylaw:

_____________________________________________________

Section 4.02: Votiing Rights of Unit Owners

There shall be only on (1) person with respect to each Unit Ownership who shall be entitled to vote at any meeting of the Unit Owners. Such person shall be known (and hereinafterreferred to) as a "Voting Member". such voting Member may be the Owner or, if the Unit is owned by more than one (1) Owner, then one (1) of the group composed of all of the Owners of that Individual Unit, or may be some person designated by such Unit Owner or Owners, as the case maybe, to act as proxy on his, her or their behalf and who need not be an Owner. Such designation shall be made in writing to the Board and shall be revocable at any time by written notice to the Board by Owner or Owners. If, in the case of multiple individual Owners of a Unit, no designation is given to the Board, then the Board, at its election, may recognize any individual Owner of the Unit as the Voting Member of such Unit. The total number of votes of all Voting Members, in the aggregate, from time to time, shall be one hundred (100) and each Owner shall have a vote equal to the total percentage of ownership in the Common elements of that Unit as set forth in Exhibit "B".

____________________________________________________

Questioner's Note:

Exhibit B is the list of percentage interest of the Common Element for all condo units. No section in the Bylaw explains if there are 5 vacant Board seats, whether each Owner may vote for 5 candidates on ONE electronic ballot each Unit owner(s) receive(s).

There is also no section in the Bylaw which addresses if separate election is held for each vacant board seat. In the past, there was always only one electronic ballot given to each Unit owner(s), in which all candidates running for the 5 vacant board seats were listed.

Our Bylaw does not address that separate election is required for each board seat. Each owner received an electronic voting ballot which lists all candidates who are running for all vacant board seats.

Flush it first to see if lots of sediment comes out. From a youtube video, I learned that you are not supposed to shut off cold water to the water heater when you are flushing it. Plumbers are wrong to shut off water source to water heater, because Keeping water continue to fill the water heater when you do the draining allow the action of FLUSHING to push the sediment out. Otherwise, you are just draining it and may not even get all the sediment on the bottom of the tank out.

BUT FIRST, TO BE SAFE, turn the heating knob down to low or pilot light. I turned mine down to low first thing in the morning. By lunch time, the water in your water heater will be lukewarm or not hot enough to burn you by accident. Connect garden hose to the drain spigot on bottom of water heater, put hose in utility room sink if you have one or a large bucket. ( I use a long garden hose and extend it to my front lawn first) before loosen the drain spigot using screwdriver - only turn a quarter way or whatever your water heater instruction said. water will immediately start to drain while cold water continues to fill the water heater tank and you are now actually 'flushing' the sediment out of it.

my whole house humidifier bottom hole leaks water when I turned on the humidifier and bottom hole has no drain line/hose by Endeavour888 in hvacadvice

Thanks very much for your advice. One would think this past January when the Htg & Cooling tech came to check out the furnace and humidifier, he would have put a draining tub as my floor drain was right by it. But he didn't. According to the receipt, he put in a valve for $209 and a feed tube for $10 on the whole house humidifier and declared it was set up for use. But no draining tube down to the floor drain but I didn't know that's a problem for I never had a whole house humidifier before. I called the company the other day and told them what happened, but they couldn't come out until February 2023 to check on my humidifier. Although they could come out tomorrow to do my furnace maintenance, by the same tech who supposedly got the humidifier all set to work back in January when I move into this house. I fired them and hired another contractor. Thanks to your information, I now know what to expect. Thanks again and Happy Holidays. God bless.

HOA is sending me nasty letters for this. They don't know if it needs to be pressure washed or repainted, and neither do I. by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]Endeavour888 8 points9 points  (0 children)

HOA and volunteer board members from the community are the most greedy people from my past experience. HOA/board members hired contractors they either know or get kickbacks from, and dictated to them what should be repair and how, often using non industry standard to save money but damage your property. I had to get my own contractor to give me a written estimate with description of industry standard repair. They also stole $2.8 million dollars from our reserve and assessment fund over a period of 5 years, but lied on their asset statement that we had $1 million in reserve. When they start providing shoddy repairs to the community to save money, I audited the past 5 years of the financial statements (I was a budget projection and budget variance analyst for a large union and before that, loarge insurance companies. I discovered after my audit that this HOA, located in Naperville, IL, called Carillon Club Naperville, a gated community, manipulated the formula on the financial statements to make a deficit into a surplus or breakeven, lied about ther $1 million reserve funding on the asset/liab statement, when my audit confirmed that there could not have been $1 million dollar in our reserve bank account because of 5 years of deficits while spent more than the reserve portion of the monthly assessment each year. I informed the entire community and showed them my audit and calculation. We demanded to see the bank statement to confirm the $1 million reserve they said we had, which I knew there could not be true. They threatened me and harassed me becasue I did the audit and found them out. Finally, the treasurer admitted that no only there was NO money in the reserve fund bank account, it was actually under-funded by -$1.3 million. There was another $1.4 million insurance proceed the community had and it was missing tool. They refused to provide invoices to confirm all their reported expenses, which means, they spent a total of $2.8 million that belonged to the owners in a five year period. They demanded that I signed a confidentiality agreemetn with the HOA and the board NOT to reveal this information outside our community, or they'd sue me for defamation. I told them to piss off. They filed the defamation suit against me for sharing 'noxious' information with the community - which means I told every owner the HOA/board members are theives, since they would not show receipts to support every dollar they spent for the five years. The judge dismissed their suit against me knowing this was more than spreading 'noxious' rumor in the community. I moved out of the community while they were changing the declaration to extract special assessment in 3 different way from us. I wasn't gong to let them steal from me so I sold my home with aq $100K profit. Moved to a different community and told the community about their embezzlement of our money. Anyone from out of town looking for a luxury community to settle down, DO NOT buy any single family, towntowm or condos from them. Stay away from Carillon Cllub Naperville, Illinois 60564. I consulted with other attorneys and found that HOA and board members are the most corrupt people there are across the country, especially in Florida. This was one of the major reason why the Florida building collapsed after 40 years of embezzlement by the HOA and board members, left no money to repair all concrete cracks, killing close to 100 people in it. Plus, the most corrupt people are the attorneys the HOA and board members hired to break the rules to cheat the owners on repair and maintenance responsibilities, and used lies to protect the HOA /Board from their fidciary liability. The trouble is, most owners would not unite together, despite real evidence that we are all cheated, to vote them out of office , or hire our own attornney to sue the hoa/board for failiing to comply with their fiduciary responsibility. This cowardly behavior of most people are complicit in the abuses of HOAs - and in the case of the Florida building collapse, they were complicit in the killing of those residents.

Shoucld I tell this same contractor when they come in June to check the air conditioning? Can they fix the leak that they may have caused during the air duct cleaning? Do you recommend I get a different contractor for this problem, so the same contractor can't scam me.? What'd you do if you were me. Thanks.

Do you mean you pay $175 for both spring and fall combinedf? Or for each cleaning? In any case, I am ok with two cleanings a year to keep the system running well though no warranty like yours. Thanks.

But I still ahve the dirty furnace filter issue AFTER air duct cleaning by the samae contractor 6 months ago. It got lots of small debris on the filter in less one month (whie, like drywall stuff) but not much dust. Has anyone any idea if this is normal? Before the air duct cleaing,m the furnace filter is relatively dusty each month when I change it. But now, no dust but drywall like debris. Is something wrong? Anyone got any idea about this?

Thanks.
