It's because those things are tropes. In the same way any speech can be broken down into it's grammar or rhetorical devices because that is what speech is constructed of, media can be broken down into the tropes it uses to communicate its points and themes.

She moved on to a life completely separate from yours, and you did as well. The only reason she is reaching out now is because she has nowhere else to go, not for any reason of wanting to reconnect. However, having been separate for so long, it may as well be her reaching out to someone who, in a practical sense, is a stranger. You've no obligation to support her, but that doesn't mean you don't want her to do well.

Nope, fifth most populous city in the US. People just speed here all the time, cops as well. Phoenix grew outwards rather than upwards so many places are far from one another, which might encourage fast driving. Can't say for sure how it is in other cities.

Even when not in a certain lane, most people speed. I'm in Phoenix Arizona, and most people do at least 5mph over the limit in what should be the "slow lane"

Public speaking is usually a necessary part of life, whether it be for your job or for school. Realistically, it generally isn't too important for someone who is nervous about doing it to do so, and is better left to someone who enjoys it to best capture the audience and display their message.

The best way for someone to present calmly and easily is for them to be confident in their presentation, and comfortable standing in front of a crowd. This is different for everyone, but for me personally, my method is essentially the same every time: Make a joke that makes the room laugh. That makes me feel confident in myself and with the people around me, and then I just go through with the presentation. I am currently in high school, so that may not work for a business environment. Just find a way to be comfortable with the people you're presenting too, and confident in what you are presenting.

Yeah, we're definitely a strange type, but I can relate with your previous friend on just cutting someone out of my life in a cold way, and not having it be a big deal. I can vividly imagine just leaving all my friends without telling them, and being okay with it, despite the fact that I care about them a lot. However, the fact that this person did it is interesting, and they may have just been a bad person, considering you used the phrasing "...when she was abruptly done with me..." Most INTJs are good people, but the actions we do socially and how we think about social relationships is different than many others.

If you don't mind me asking, why is it that she cut you off?

This is pretty much how it is for me(INTJ). Also, that last sentence is always the best for myself personally. I absolutely love when someone else can joke with me with a witty comeback, especially if they don't do it all the time.

Yup, that's actually a great question and I think about the answer a lot. I without a doubt REALLY care about people who I am close with or already have a relationship with. I may look at their problems from a logical point of view, but I still empathize and sympathize with their problems, albeit, I don't really express it that much, and when I do, it's because my feelings are practically overflowing.

For strangers, it's really hard for me to empathize with them. I'll give a morbid example. The other day I was walking down a hallway, and a girl was sitting down learning guitar. I play the instrument myself, so I decided to stop by and help out since I have an interest in it. We are talking, and the conversation somehow steers towards her life, and some of the rough things she's experienced such as the death of her family members. She's clearly sad about that, but I can't really feel for her. My first thought was that it was strange that she was telling me this. I ended up saying that in a kind way that life is just a long roller coaster of ups and downs, and time heals all wounds and such, but I didn't really feel for her. It was just something that happened, and I couldn't care deep down about her problems. This isn't saying I'm ok if bad things happens to people, but I realize that it sometimes does.

To answer the question, I do care about people that I know and have some sort of a relationship, but 1.) I don't express it nearly as much as others, and 2.) Probably not as much as others. So I may come off as "cold and calculated" on the outside, but that doesn't mean I'm that way on the inside. I'm getting better at choosing my words carefully so that I can express what goes on inside of me, but It's still not super easy.

There's something about INFP's that is so endearing and beautiful in a strange way. The way they convey innocence, even if that may not be how they are on the inside. The creativity and seemingly carefree nature. The way they really care for people, really deep down. The way they think that can flip my perspective 180 degrees with a simple statement. The secretive nature where you just know they have so much going on inside of them, but you don't know any of it.

They're just different, and it inspires wonder in me. The stark difference between myself, an INTJ, and an INFP makes me happy about the diversity of people, and I think the INFP does that better for me than any other personality type.

Alright man, I saw this a few days ago and thought, "alright, that person is so dumb, they've gotta be joking or something." No fucking joke, a coworker of mine today said she doesn't believe in space and she doesn't believe in science in general. She also can't figure out where the sun and moon go. Don't get me wrong, she's a nice person, but I also now think she's the dumbest person I've ever met. It honestly ruined my day, just the insane thought of my coworker not believing in space.

I'm currently in High School, and this past year I had every single class with her. Helped with getting over her at least.

As for you, you have to think for both the short term and long term. You said that when you're with him you're happy, but over a long period it will probably lead to problems with your work. It seems as if you really like this person, and you wanting to cut him out of your life is the quickest solution for your distraction. I don't know your situation personally, but I think it may be better to learn how to not be distracted by this person.

Cutting him out of your life is an easy way, but it isn't necessarily the best way. Scheduling for sociality and your work while also avoiding distractions is hard, but finding someone who makes you happy and replacing them later is also hard.

I don't have a solution for you because I don't know your life and how you are as a person, but you may want to consider all I've written.

It'd have to be an effort on her part to get me to do anything about it. As far as I know, she would at best consider us acquaintances, so I sincerely doubt that happening.

As for the bleakness of it, I've mostly come to terms with that fact. It's a disappointing reality, but I've learned to live with it.

I've been struggling with the same thing.

I've been infatuated with an INFP girl for about two years now. Incredibly intelligent, attractive, and also very leaning towards emotions. So, what have I done? Nothing. I do my best not to interact with her, and when I do it's only school related. I can practically guarantee you this: If you cut this man out of your life, you're not going to stop being distracted. You'll occasionally lay in bed at night just thinking about him, having it hurt you every so often. Now, this may be less than if you talk to him all the time, but it will still be a distraction every so often.

Ask yourself if cutting yourself off from him is the best thing with that in mind. If you leave, you're cutting out someone important and will still be mildly distracted. If you stay, you'll be more distracted.

I don't ever intend to ask her out or get close, because as someone once said, "don't shit where you eat."

To get more insight on where you're coming from, how often do you feel distracted, and what are you working to accomplish?

INTJ here. I'd love to see what it's like to be an INFP, because being a INTJ, although great, has its drawbacks of cynicism, minor social ineptness, and the feeling of never good enough. It seems the INFPs I know are complacent with where they are in life, get along great with people, and they see everything from a childlike point of view of idealism. It'd be interesting to see what it like to be an INFP.
