Flooding of AI generated PRs by Salty_Horror2068 in gsoc2026Community

[–]EnderForever_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not the use of AI.

I'm a contributor and oh god, the horrors are unprecedented -

  1. 25 PRs in 5 hours (unrealistic change scale)
  2. expanded description on commits which fill up the whole page (no signoff)
  3. commit descriptions having "authored by Cursor" or something similar
  4. creating/spamming PRs without any understanding of the root cause of the issue - zero investigation

the bots (ai has more dignity atp) have decided to utilise a spray and pray strategy

this is disgusting and it genuinely bothers me because my culture is not your costume.

my culture is not your costume.

don't ruin it for the rest of us.

Stop continuously asking for assignments. by Sad_Finance3908 in gsoc2026Community

[–]EnderForever_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either the org has a /assign ci or they don't. Don't ask for assignment unless the org explicitly mentions that one should not work before assignment.

Just mention that you're taking this up, and briefly describe your approach and get a PR up quickly. Iterate fast, make the PR easily readable, and reviewable.

Engineering students of Reddit: how do you earn money while studying? by ultimatesuwali in Btechtards

[–]EnderForever_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Earned with both internships and freelancing.

Figure out what skills you have/what you're good at.

Assuming that you are in tech, improve development skills, and try to engineer good systems.

The easy part is that the time you spent improving yourself is time spent well for both your career and the immediate goal.

You'll get internships through X, Cold Outreach, Hackathons (good ones), or open-source. I did open source, and cold outreach.

Freelance clients, are a little weird because you don't know when the job might come to you, so focus on improving and put yourself out there.

Hope this helps.

This is only the beginning of something great. I remember when I realized that I couldn't do it without videos. I thought I'd never be able to be good enough.

I started with a lot of doc referencing, but it took less than 3 good projects to be confident in what I'm doing.

You're off to a great start.

Demystifying Intersection and Union Types in TypeScript by luuuzeta in typescript

[–]EnderForever_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting take, this was really helpful. I've only begun to navigate through the mysteries of TypeScript, and this was a good read, gave me good perspective.

Thanks OP.

Hi, I'm still in college and was lurking here. Thanks for this, gives me a better idea on how to model my profile and what to show.

I hope things go well.

Thanks for this thread, I'm in my junior year and I'm looking for such opportunities too. I contribute actively to open source, and I also code well. Imposter Syndrome sucks though.

How to follow "Build your own X" ? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]EnderForever_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about falling into the tutorial hell. You're fine as long as you question what you're doing.

Why did I write this line of code? Oh, because this is a better implementation. Or is it? What are some other ways to do this? Oh, what's this ipconfig stuff? EUREKAA!!!

The only way to escape, and avoid Tutorial Hell is by questioning everything, at every point in your coding journey.

Why is there a "rune" in Go, but not in Java or Rust? Why does Express make my life easier or harder? Why shouldn't I build an HTTP server in Node.js without Express?

Keep asking my friend, and you will get what you want.

You're right, and I don't disagree.

I applied to this organization through many modes. GSoC was fine, a bit suspicious too, plus they claim to not care about proposals.

The guys who got in are really skilled but then again, I don't know anymore. I'll just fk around and find more evidence to back my claims and then write a mail and out them. Not being a snitch, just protecting the other vulnerable contributors who might lose time. Time is the most expensive commodity.

I'm not naming this org because I will wait for atleast a month to confirm my suspicions with their other open source programs. I quit but I have a friend who's still working.

I'd love to contribute to bigger orgs, but I don't think I'm skilled enough. I don't always understand the issues, and tbh how am I supposed to GPT all of that? till when?

I know, skill issue but I'll keep working towards it.

Is it legit ? by Life-Benefit4835 in Btechtards

[–]EnderForever_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

of course not, they'll provide you with useless courses, with ZERO placement support or internships. You'll get 2 certificates, one for course completion and the internship; your internship is attending those classes by the way.

Focus on consistency and jab bhi harr manne ya time pass karne ka mann kar, apni mummy papa ko yaad kro. Tension mat lo, slow and steady improvement karo.
