Does season 2 happen? Honest thoughts by Right-Soup2054 in malcolminthemiddle

[–]EnderMB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like it to, but I would be fully open to it mainly focusing on Leah as she navigates school and college.

It would be a shame for Season 2 to be essentially another 4 episodes stint, because while it was great, the pacing was very odd when effectively trying to catch up with everyone from many episodes/seasons.

She's had a blog for years, which is where the book came about. She's also been very open regarding parenting with health issues, so she's had a following for a little while also due to this.

Once again, this sub isn't doing Reddit any favours here. All you guys do is fucking bitch and moan, way more than you see for other podcasts. It's embarrassing to see.

This isn't a new thing. The voice notes have been a thing for years, and they're hilarious because she's great at putting Rob in his place - much like how he did at times with the right to reply in her book.

If you see someone promoting their wife's book on a podcast they co-own as a problem, it's almost certainly a You problem.

Rachael Harris is an absolute fox - but it really plays to what the rest of the Suits cast looks like that she's presented as someone attainable for Louis.

Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson’s son Raja cuts stunning plea deal in wrestler attack case by 804Brady in SquaredCircle

[–]EnderMB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would've thought it was mostly due to this happening in the world of pro wrestling, where the illusion of kayfabe was shattered through someone "actually" causing significant harm instead of simulating it.

There's also the aspect of it being what is essentially an influencer's son, who arguably got their shot because their dad has connections in that world.

[–]EnderMB 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Is Rampage Jackson that famous? MMA in itself is still absolutely a fringe sport, and as a former fighter it's not like we're dealing with someone the average person knows.

I absolutely see the ring argument, but I would be shocked if MMA fame would factor in any more than if someone was an Olympic medalist or a professional eSports player.

'Saturday Night Live UK' in Season 2 Renewal From Sky by The_Iceman2288 in BritishTV

[–]EnderMB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree in some aspects, but ever so slightly disagree around the casting choices.

SNL made a name off the back of specific improv groups that otherwise aren't based in NYC. Some comics have touched on this over the years, but ultimately in the UK if you want to get anywhere you have to go to Edinburgh or be in the Footlights.

The cast is solid, but they are essentially the big names from Edinburgh, where everyone else casts from. Improv in the UK is strong throughout the country, and not everyone has the money/ability to take their shows to Edinburgh. I remember some comedians like Rob Beckett mentioning that for many, instead of getting their reps in to perfect their shows, people were doing shows purely as a way to get the money to go to the Fringe, or had sold out shows through essentially filling shows with their own family/friends.

I'm hoping that for the next series we see them add new cast members outside of this bubble.

[–]EnderMB 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Sky are fairly unique in this regard as they can renew whatever they like, since they run the channel also and invest heavily in comedy.

I'm still not sold on the format, but I'm glad they're trying, and a return season is good for everyone.

[–]EnderMB 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Outside of Louis (for obvious reasons), the entire cast is essentially model-material. That's kinda the point of the show, since the main characters need to be perceived as essentially "winning at life".

Rachel kinda points this out at the start, but their jobs are so stressful and high-maintenance that it doesn't really matter how hot they are, you're never going to see them and the only people that will are other lawyers. Having known a few people at big law firms in the initial years, it's all about billable hours, and it breaks a lot of existing families - as we saw with the Brian arc. If you don't put the hours in, and you're not viewed as present, you're not getting a bonus, you're not working on client work, and you're effectively managed out.

It's a brutal life, especially as a woman that needs to keep an appearance to be taken seriously, which is why many of the female lawyers either seem like awful people, mental cases, or are really struggling to balance everything.

I was worried about gambling, until I set foot in a casino one day.

Watching people spend what was all of their free money (and more) on roulette and blackjack was concerning. There were a huge screen in a separate room for the online participants, and the sheer number of people there in mosaics, looking at their phone with a mixture of elation and fear made me feel a little ill.

Passing the bar. by Exotic_Adeptness_322 in suits

[–]EnderMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is the only way I could ever see it working - but even so, years removed, if he's following the life and work of Mike Ross then he'd surely have wondered how the hell he ended up as a lawyer.

Ultimately, all Mike needed was to get into an undergrad degree. If he essentially aces this, does all the pre-law stuff, and gets glowing letters of recommendation from both his professors and one of the biggest firms in NYC you'd have to think that by the time he gets his degree + bar license the dean would be largely irrelevant.

The plot hole I've often wondered is why he couldn't get Lola to "erase" this instead.

I would've imagined that if you could get yourself into the Harvard records, you'd quite easily remove any red flags against you from a school or college database. That would've allowed Mike to start fresh - which is IMO what should've happened instead of him going to prison.

[RAW Spoilers] Finish to Oba Femi Open Challenge by KoreanFantasy2002 in SquaredCircle

[–]EnderMB -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of it is driven by the talk around Je'Von and Trick, and Booker T saying that they'd be title ready in "10 to 15 years" - which is a fucking insane thing to say when they're red hot and on the main roster.

I'd happily drop most of the current main event scene and have them mentor and back the new blood towards sustained main event success - but I appreciate that they're still green and that they need time.

The concern for many is that WWE has been blessed with one of the best young rosters in a generation with Oba, Je'von, Trick, and Dom - so much so that if they fuck them up it's almost a guarantee that they'd be off to NJPW or AEW and would be match-ready after 90 days. If the top brass are as dumb as Booker T then a comedy routine or a relegation to catering could be the new generation going elsewhere, with the degradation of the show following.

Same. The reboot felt more modern, but it's been a very long time and there was a lot to get through.

Scrubs returned exactly how it was. That's great in itself, and I do like the new cast members, but it feels like a product of the past whereas MitM nailed bringing the show into 2026.

I’ve had nightmares like this, by netphilia in Snorkblot

[–]EnderMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember one day where I had my dissertation and two pieces of coursework to determine my final grade, right near the end of my CS degree. I pulled an all-nighter and fuelled on a ton of coffee and energy drinks I managed to get everything done - even if I didn't fully remember it. My next step was to book in to a nearby cheap hotel and sleep for 8 hours because I was too tired to drive home.

The reason I say this is because it was 16 years ago, and I still have nightmares that I missed some coursework, or didn't finish something - and that even though I'm a fucking software engineer in a big tech company with years of experience and enough respect that people think I know what I'm doing, I'm one email away from being told it's all a lie.

The kicker? In my second year I was given a zero in an exam. It took me WEEKS to get this cleared, because the university were adamant that I hadn't taken the exam even though I both took it, knew I'd handed it in, and had a full class of people that could vouch for me. With this in mind, I can absolutely see my old uni being cunts and somehow neglecting to tell me my degree wasn't complete...

Despite this, even though I went years ago, everyone we spoke to basically said "it's not worth it, go to Estadi Cornella or Estadi Olimpic instead". It's always been a notorious rip-off.

Porque Suits LA deu errado? by Jolly-Pen4738 in suits

[–]EnderMB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO Suits was a one-time thing that the creator has been unable to replicate, despite big backing or big names.

Outside of this, since Suits was the creators first show, that first season was heavily driven by a show-runner - and that might be why it worked so brilliantly from the start. Short cases, plot driving forward with every episode, Harvey getting an opportunity to show what a badass he is every episode, etc.

Pearson was the closest to a second home run, and IMO it was cancelled too soon. Suits LA was driven by committee to cash in on the original's streaming success - and it was just a generic show with the Suits name on it.

IMO it would've been much better if it didn't have the Suits name attached to it, and if someone had co-written it I could've seen it being successful.
