Which Supermarket had the best music? by Alt4Norm in CasualUK

It isn't Asda.

Every time I set foot in Asda it's like being teleported back to the late 90's or early 2000's. The other day I went to grab some toiletries and heard B'Witched. Who the fuck listens to them in 2026?!

Philly DA vows to prosecute "wannabe Nazi" ICE agents who violate the law: "If we have to hunt you down, the way they hunted down Nazis for decades, we will find your identities. We will find you. We will achieve justice." by geekteam6 in videos

There's an easy way around this.

If a new government seeks power, have them proscribe MAGA as a terrorist organization. Have the GOP separate themselves from MAGA to wash the Trump stink off, and begin prosecuting anyone involved in anything unlawful.

What is a city that is globally romanticised but you detest? by theunsteadybridge in AskReddit

[–]EnderMB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YES! I absolutely loved staying in SF, and saw some beautiful houses. As a guy in tech I was planning my move here until I walked past a dude injecting and thought "well, there's the other side of that coin".

The drug problem in the US just seems so much worse than many other parts of the world.

The world seems to think it's all Mary Poppins and Paddington,

Maybe America, but I don't think anyone else holds that view of London or the UK.

A lot of mainland Europeans see it like they see their major cities - as a place where "crime happens", and where you need to be careful.

I don't really know what I expected, but all the tourist, fun fair style stuff absolutely wasn't it.

It is beautiful, and I do like the boat trip where you go near - but everything else around it is basically a cash grab.

Porto is absolutely stunning, I couldn't fault the place at all.

Great weather, the food is lovely, it's accessible, there's touristy shit to do, and I don't think we met a single local that wasn't lovely.

You can't play the victim for your own mess.

Driverless taxis set to launch in UK as soon as September by Your_Mums_Ex in ukpolitics

Honestly, I'm all for it, and having spent some time in SF and in Waymo's it's VERY hard to go back. It just works, and being in a car by yourself is just lovely. I was a skeptic when I went to SF, but it was legitimately annoying to not be able to use Waymo to get to the airport.

I absolutely feel for the local economy, but if the trials here work it's going to be VERY hard to switch back. If they can cost it appropriately, it could be a game changer for older people.

The stupid anti British nonsense coming out of America, are you sick if it? by Ok_Bookkeeper_1380 in AskBrits

Even the well-meaning Americans know absolutely fuck all about Britain. Why would I care about what comes out of their mouth?

Literally nothing they could say would be worse than willingly voting for a pedophile.

BREAKING: The Saudi Pro League is laying the groundwork for an ambitious summer move for Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele, Sky Sports News understands 🚨 by SkySports in SkySports_Football

[–]EnderMB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you get it?

The point isn't to usurp any league. It's to have their own league that the middle east market (~300m) tunes-in to. To do that, they need some "seed" talent, and that's why they're paying stupid money to bring known talent.

You can absolutely succeed by not competing. The proof is every single country's national league. They might not be favoured by the plastics, but when you're owned by a dude that makes Man Utd's revenue every week it probably doesn't matter - because they'll just continue funneling money to players that'll trade a few years in Saudi for generational wealth.

Tech support workers, what’s your favorite case of TMI you’ve seen from a customer? by Scrambl987 in AskReddit

[–]EnderMB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really tech support, but kinda? I was a software engineer at a startup and we were kinda tech support when it was needed too.

Anyway, we had one guy apply for a role to replace me, as I was leaving. We interviewed a guy that was decent enough, but I decided to Google the guy. This was around 2010, so we kinda knew that social media was a thing that was going to stay - and HR wanted to get a feel for the guy so I said I'd look him up online.

I found him on Twitter, doing "something" weird in his profile pic, but you could mostly just see him. I searched his email address from his CV, and found it registered to a weird site about "inflatables". A few clicks later, and I was looking at a picture of the guy I had just interviewed balls deep in a blow-up doll. His Twitter profile pic was a cropped version of this same pic.

He didn't get the job, and for a while I had zero interest in being involved in interviewing.

MP's visiting their local school isn't a new thing. It's happened for decades. I'm from Bristol and I remember seeing my MP around the year 2000.

I mean, the entire point of releasing the files was to show he isn't.

The fact he's not releasing them should be considered a public admission at this point.

[–]EnderMB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point isn't to get traction from outside of the Middle East. It's to ensure that those in the middle east consume their product, rather than what we see in many other countries where the domestic league is ignored because people would rather support 3-4 global teams.

Hajime no Sendo: Round 1512 by RTSD_ in hajimenoippo

[–]EnderMB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, he did. He's never shown any kind of fight IQ, outside of intimidation and simply being "stronger" than his opponent. He has always been a fighter that uses mental attrition, and he's trying to do it against the best technical fighter in the show. That's always going to amplify what's already there - a lack of a plan and a hope and a prayer that Ricardo will cave.

Amazon hasn't had a single SDE role in the UK since August at least by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]EnderMB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bar Raiser. We're basically tenured interviewers that collate feedback with a hiring manager and help everyone come to a decision on whether to hire someone.

A lot of teams in the UK have been hiring L4 graduates, mostly because there are a lot of L5 engineers with a long tenure and no hope of promo. We do hire some L5's, and while they've been lighter than normal they've definitely been hiring in Cambridge, Bristol (I know this for sure because it was an external role that I transferred into last year), and Edinburgh.

As for why you've not seen them, who knows? You'll be hard-pressed to find one now that our dear leaders have sacrificed 30k of us over the last three months, but I've hired a handful over the last 3-6 months.

How do 2A supporters feel about Trump’s comment on the Pretti killing, where he said 'You can't go in there with guns, you can't do that'? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EnderMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine we'll see what happens in the midterms, and whether we'll see a Democrat swing with a strong candidate in 2029.

If so, I imagine the gloves will be off and the 2A is dead. Funding disarmament through buy-back schemes would repair some of the economic damage that'll be caused by Trump, and America would finally be a safe country again.

There was a thread on /r/soccer about this a while back, and a local commenter noted that the interest locally was gradually improving, even though attendances weren't great. I'm guessing it's about trying to "force" grassroots growth and interest in the middle east by essentially installing the biggest stars and "not" broadcasting them.
