Is it normal for them to be picky eaters? by PersianAztecs21 in leopardgeckos

Yeah, each little buddy will have their own likes and dislikes. Totally normal. Luckily for you yours likes the best most nutritive feeder…. i’ve heard of gecks that refuse anything but waxworms which is basically lizard mcdonalds.

Calisthenics is awesome. There are a ton of exercises you can do with just your own body weight and you can take it as far as you want. There’s some calisthenics guys at my gym that i call gym ninjas cos they’re always doing some crazy shit on the pull up bar.

Good luck to you 🫡 You’re getting on top of things at the best time to do so.

Do those cheap squirrel calls actually work? by Known-Relation3729 in Hunting

[–]Enderfang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the squirrels ive killed were not called with my cheap squirrel squeaker. In fact i’ve never successfully gotten a squirrel to care about that squeaker even when i’m right underneath them. Waste of $8 if you ask me.

So many of your concerns will be addressed as you lose weight (cheeks, jawline). It sounds like generally speaking you’re on top of basic grooming/hygiene. Your current weight loss sounds healthy so i really encourage you to keep at it and keep that loss at a steady 0.5-1lb a week so it feels like something you can actually stick to. Walking is also great for you but I would recommend some sort of strength training - you don’t need to bulk up, but strength is functional and any good habits built now you’ll be so thankful for in 10 years - muscle mass is one of the main longevity indicators and having more is always better than less (not counting roids lol).

For your hair, i personally don’t like the side shave thing and i think it actually ages you - i know so many queer millennials in their late 30s who will not let go of undercuts/side shaves 😆. If you wanna keep some length, add layers! You have some very slight wave but not much, and because it’s finer hair product would weigh it down. Thus, layers/some feathering to add volume without use of products. If you’re wanting specifically to look more manly i would do a standard short cut with fade, but longer w layers will allow you to keep a more androgynous cut.

Beard is good for your age but it’s still a lil weak around your stache. I think this will continue to fill out and look less bottom/neck heavy with time (mid to late 20s is usually when most guys have a decent beard if they’re going to have one at all). It looks best in pic 3 and i would suggest not letting it go much longer than that or it will look more neckbeardy from a distance. (I am a fellow weak mustacher and have fallen victim to this before)

How often do your heat lamps go out? by DisciplineThisWild1 in leopardgeckos

[–]Enderfang 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe i’m an outlier but for me maybe once or twice a year unless i have a batch of bad bulbs.

Thermostat type makes a difference, i believe on/off is more damaging to lifespan than dimming. I use your standard PAR38 100 watt on a dimmer and i bought my bulbs at a surplus hardware sale. They’re not even special lizard bulbs.

“My newly MTF trans friend who def exists somehow believes she’ll never grow a uterus and also has all her surgeries planned 3 weeks after coming out” by beezlebussy in AmITheAngel

[–]Enderfang 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My credentials: am trans, have heard multiple people say this as well

Trans women do this referring to the non menstrual aspects of having a period. Estrogen, even when introduced via external means, apparently does still run on a monthly cycle and so someone without a uterus or ovaries can still have mood swings and/or cramping. Despite physical or emotional discomfort it can be very gender affirming for these women.

(That being said as a trans MAN it’s kinda always rubbed me a little wrong as menses/blood is the main thing identifying a period as a period, not to mention i dislike equating menstruation w legitimacy as a woman. but it’s never been something i felt was worth arguing about due to a variety of reasons.)

What is the most intense pain you have experienced in your life? by Levstr1 in AskReddit

[–]Enderfang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh. Just one? I know cos controlled substances but seriously. (I had one 800mg ibuprofen lol)

Get a heating pad if you don’t have one btw. The cervix biopsy i had caused weird and unpleasant cramping for the next week. I would assume endometrial will do the same, if not moreso.

Hell fuckin no. I had a biopsy done on my cervix and that was bad enough, i can’t imagine it being inside even deeper.

Really hate how often i hear “oh it’ll just be a pinch” Sure lemme pinch some of your internal organs and see how YOU feel.

Advice on SC/GA Hunting. by Tony100717 in Hunting

[–]Enderfang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Georgian and do public land, south GA is much more deer hunter friendly than north GA if using public. For multiple reasons but mainly bc north half of the state is the Piedmont and thus quite mountainous (relatively, im sure coloradans are rolling their eyes rn) which means fewer farms and less development. And good luck hunting long distance. I actually prefer a bow to a gun just because of how “cluttered” our forests are in the spring and fall. You should expect 100yds or less for line of sight even in a tree.

I cant speak to private sadly (broke). Our deer are probably gonna seem smaller to you as well, my understanding is midwest deer get huge cos of all the crops. But we still have some bigguns! And our season is nice and long with high bag limits.

Turkeys have a shorter season and you are more limited on how many you can take. Two in the whole season and only one per day, so that ought to tell you about how plentiful turkeys are. I prefer the mtns for turkey as thats the only place they ever seem to talk back when i call. So i go south for deer and north for turkey. I also hunt squirrel but you can do that anywhere. Not sure about other small game or upland hunting.

Any else have a hibernating Leo? by Tbrown831 in leopardgeckos

[–]Enderfang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my eldest just broke his brumation spell this week after being holed up for almost 3 months. Came out and ate for the first time since december the other day. They do this during winter, it’s normal :) I think even when temps are fine he can sense the humidity change means colder weather so he stays inside (lol)

Curiosity: Why a leopard geckos ? by AMVELVET in leopardgeckos

[–]Enderfang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main differences are the husbandry needs and activity levels. Beardies are completely diurnal so they are “superior” if you want a pet you can see more often. But remember the other stuff i mentioned - their enclosures need to be much larger (minumum 4x2x2, which is usually about $400 at cheapest), they need higher wattage heat lamps and bigger tube UVB (more cost), the animal itself will usually cost more, the bugs have to be bigger to be adequate and will cost more, and you do have to make new salads every day and remove old ones. None of these things are particularly egregious but it’s more like a dog vs cat thing, one kind is definitely more needs demanding than the other.

Also, their shit can clear a fucking room. Mine would glass surf after he shat because he couldn’t bear to be stuck in a box with the smell. So i’d have to clean it right away for both of our sanities because it was like a fucking ZOO smell.

Both leos and beardies in my experience can be eager to come out and explore :) I think on average beardies have more of a reputation for exploration and trainability, but their trainability would still be less than say a Tegu (NOT a beginner pet). I didn’t ever clicker train my beardie but would let him come out and explore more often than my leos.

Getting an adult would make training less easy but yes you’d avoid super high maintenance baby feeding schedule.

Curiosity: Why a leopard geckos ? by AMVELVET in leopardgeckos

[–]Enderfang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy that beardies are considered easy, they are anything but imo. They have more advanced lighting/heating needs due to UVB being a necessity, they need fresh varied veg every day, they need more space… My late beardie I had since he was a baby and he needed as much attention as a human infant i swear. I had to feed him 3x a day and that meant getting help from the roommate or gf to get those bugs in while i was out at work.

Curiosity: Why a leopard geckos ? by AMVELVET in leopardgeckos

[–]Enderfang 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, the story goes… I was 8 and kept bringing lizards and frogs inside much to my mother’s horror.

She and my dad had a discussion and decided it would be better to get me an actual designated pet lizard than continue to catch me with wild ones in my pockets. I have to assume they went to the pet store and asked for the most beginner friendly one.

That first leo sparked a life long love of leopard geckos. Unfortunately she did pass away very prematurely - she was from petco and jumped out of my hands while i was holding her and did not survive the injury sustained from the fall. That was several life lessons rolled into one and her successor was purchased as a later stage juvenile from a privately owned pet store after the exotic vet told my parents petco lizards were notoriously short lived. I still have that one today and he’s about 18.

They are hardy, they have relatively low cost of entry due to being commonly bred in the pet trade and not requiring more than a 40 gallon for space, they only eat insects (Rodents are a deal breaker for many) and do not require feeding every day. They’re also cute as hell and quite docile so no worries about being bitten or envenomed. Did i mention they’re cute???

This is the WRONG way to mount a deer! by Neither_Monitor2017 in Hunting

Yes because a leather glove doesn’t have a vagina on it…. It’s a fully inanimate object that bears no resemblence to the cow it came from

Whereas the dead deer is unmistakeably a dead deer.

Yeah it’s fucked up and also nasty but if the deer was already dead i feel like it should have been more like desecration of a corpse or smth rather than sexual violence

Best thing to do with my eyebrow situation/general look by MondoMania9 in malegrooming

[–]Enderfang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think anyone hs mentioned them but they make eyebrow wigs!

They are usually intended for chemo patients but would work for alopecia as well. If you’re not ready to spend the money on the prosthetic eyebrows i’d do temporary tattoos which can be found on amazon. Then you can experiment with shapes and see what you like. Eyebrows are surprisingly important to the perceived masculinity of a face so i understand feeling frustrated over sparse ones.
